The Skyliner Dessert Crawl at Walt Disney World

Fruits of the Forest: Topolino’s Terrace

The Disney Skyliner is the newest, most exciting way to get around Walt Disney World.  Why not enjoy your travel time to the parks in style, soaring above the trees with fantastic views of the most magical place on Earth?  The Disney Skyliner connects Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot’s International Gateway with Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, Pop Century and Riviera Resorts.  Even if you’re not staying at one of these resorts, the Skyliner makes it a breeze to visit each of them.  And what better way to get to know all of the locations connected by the Skyliner than by sampling the tastiest desserts at each?  Here are our favorite picks for a Disney Skyliner Dessert Crawl.

1. Artisanal Ice Cream: L’Artisan des Glaces

An entire article could be (and has been) written about the delectable desserts found in the World Showcase at Disney’s Epcot.  Luckily, Disney’s Skyliner stops at Epcot’s International Gateway, making it easy for you to stop here as part of your Skyliner dessert crawl!  We recommend making a beeline for France’s L’Artisan des Glaces to sample some of the best ice cream on property.  Opt for a decadent macaron sandwich filled with ice cream, or try a few of the artisanal flavors on their own.  Some of our faves are the Cinnamon with Caramelized Apple and Crumble Crunch Ice Cream, Milk Chocolate and Orange Ice Cream, and Coco-white Chocolate Ice Cream – but you really can’t go wrong here!

2. Caramel Pecan Bar: Karamell-KĂĽche

Nothing screams “dessert” like the caramel goodness of the treats at Karamell-Küche, in Germany’s pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot!  It’s hard to pick a favorite here (so don’t limit yourself!), but one of our go-to choices is the Caramel Pecan Bar.  It’s exactly as advertised: a yummy cookie base covered with chewy, to-die-for caramel, and sprinkled with pecans.  It sounds simple, but the taste bud explosion you’ll experience is anything but!  Warning: this may well be your favorite dessert on the Skyliner dessert crawl.

3. Fruits of the Forest: Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera

You’ll want to make a stop at Walt Disney World’s newest resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, during your Skyliner dessert crawl.  After all, the views from the rooftop restaurant Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera are stunning!  This restaurant offers French and Italian cuisine, and you should stick around to sample a dessert or two while you’re there.  We love the Fruits of the Forest dessert, which is not only beautifully presented, but completely delicious, with its tiny merengues, blueberry sorbet with a hit of basil, and lemon curd.  To make this dessert even sweeter, it’s vegan, so it can be enjoyed by everyone in your party!

4. Tropical Tart: Spyglass Grill

The hub of Disney’s Skyliner is at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.  This is a perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a bit of island time!  Head over to the Trinidad pool area to Spyglass Grill, where you can enjoy prime seating overlooking Barefoot Bay.  Our dessert choice here is the Tropical Tart, which encompasses all of your favorite island flavors with a touch of sweetness.  You’ll find mango and key lime in this tantalizing tart, along with passion fruit and vanilla Chantilly cream.  After all, when in the Caribbean…

5. Oi-Oi Puff: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Our Disney Skyliner dessert crawl wouldn’t be complete without an entry from Disney’s newest land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in Hollywood Studios!  Head to the quick service location Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, one of the most amazingly creative spots in all of Galaxy’s Edge.  Pull up a barrel stool inside a cargo container and enjoy the Oi-Oi Puff, a raspberry crème puff that’s filled with passion fruit mousse.  This intergalactic delicacy is not only delicious, it looks like a shiny planetary orb and it’s served on a platter that looks like the night sky.  We love desserts that are as fun to eat as they are tasty!

6. Turtle Brownie: Landscape of Flavors

While kids may gravitate towards the adorable Crisped Character Rice Treats featuring images from their favorite Disney movies, we have a different dessert pick at Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.  The Turtle Brownie is rich, gooey and filling –  basically, it’s everything a Turtle Brownie should be.  The moist brownie is topped with a satisfying combination of walnuts, chocolate chips and caramel sauce, and it’s a perfect break-time dessert, perhaps after completing one of the resort’s animation classes!

7. Tie-Dye Cheesecake: Everything Pop

We love eye-catching desserts, especially ones we can’t find anywhere else on property.  So our next stop on our Skyliner dessert crawl is Disney’s Pop Century Resort.   You wouldn’t expect to find one of Walt Disney World’s most gorgeous desserts in the food court of a value resort, but trust us, the Tie-Dye Cheesecake at Everything Pop doesn’t disappoint!  It’s a delightful swirling rainbow treat that looks like a work of art.  But you’ll want to do more than just look at this yummy cake with a red velvet crust and creamy cheesecake texture!  Plus: the tie-dye colors will temporarily dye your tongue fun colors – perfect for the kid in all of us.
