‘Star Wars’ Officially Introduces Next Lightsaber-Wielding Villain
Just one year after The Acolyte introduced fans to Manny Jacinto’s enigmatic Qimir—also known as The Stranger—Lucasfilm is already queuing up its next dual lightsaber-wielding antagonist. This fall, the galaxy far, far away gets another dark side wielder ready to make a statement.
Premiering in the summer of 2024, The Acolyte marked a bold entry into Star Wars’ High Republic timeline. Created by Leslye Headland, the show sparked fierce discourse online throughout its run and was ultimately cancelled, reportedly due to underwhelming viewership in contrast to its hefty production budget.
Despite its short-lived run, the series delivered a slate of new characters, including twin sisters Osha and Mae Aniseya (Amandla Stenberg), their mother and guide Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith), Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), and the mask-wearing Stranger—Jacinto’s Qimir.
With the show’s abrupt end, many character arcs and plot threads were left unresolved, likely to be addressed through other media in typical Star Wars fashion. Now, Lucasfilm is moving forward with a different kind of villain—one crafted from bricks, mischief, and a surprising amount of lore.
Fresh off the success of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Lucasfilm is heading back to the alternate-universe sandbox this September with Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past—a series that continues to twist the franchise’s mythology in playful, unexpected ways.
The spotlight this time turns to Master Solitus, a former Jedi who has apparently crossed over to the dark side. Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast) will voice the character, whose student Jedi Bob (voiced by Bobby Moynihan) returns for more LEGO-fueled antics.
Solitus will mentor Tony Revolori’s Darth Rev in the new season.
“Dev’s divided journey is muddled even further with the introduction of Solitus. ‘Darth Dev would describe Solitus as the Master he’s always been looking for. A true Sith Lord! Someone who can finally teach him his place in the universe,’ Revolori said via The Direct. ‘But that’s not how the actor would put it for himself. ‘I would describe him as having a whole lot of issues; he needs a friend and some love badly.’”
Adding to his mystique, Master Solitus departs from the typical crimson blade, opting instead for dual purple lightsabers, echoing Mace Windu’s iconic weapon from the prequel films. With The Acolyte having explored the bleeding of kyber crystals, it remains to be seen if Pieces of the Past will riff on that mythos in its own comedic tone.
The four-part series premieres on Disney+ on September 19, 2025, and reunites creators Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, who are back to mash up beloved characters, galaxy-wide conflicts, and lore through the LEGO lens. As with its predecessor, this chapter operates outside of established canon, giving the creators full freedom to experiment.
The show was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Ahmed Best—fresh off his viral performance as Darth Jar Jar—unveiled the new title and confirmed he’ll be returning to the role. Ashley Eckstein was also on hand to confirm she’s back as Ahsoka Tano—but not the one you know.
In this version, fans will meet “BrickHeadz Ahsoka” for the first time on screen. Eckstein offered a heartfelt message to attendees, emphasizing the character’s personal significance.
“Last time I was on this stage, I talked about how Ahsoka lives in all of us, and we’ve really made Ahsoka’s story our own story,” Eckstein said. “We’ve experienced Star Wars for an entire generation through Ahsoka’s eyes… and we’ve literally created our own story through Ahsoka, and that’s what this story is about. There’s so much heart in BrickHeadz Ahsoka, and we’re all going to relate to her. You’re going to love it.”
The returning voice cast includes Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, and Ben Schwartz. Best and Eckstein reprise their iconic characters, each bringing a new twist to their roles in this zany, brick-based reimagining of the Star Wars universe.
