Guests visiting Disneyland Resort have reportedly tampered with and defaced parts of the Space Mountain attraction, leaving visible damage that has allegedly gone unfixed for months. The incident has sparked conversations online about guest behavior and the upkeep of one of Disneyland Park’s most iconic rides.

Space Mountain has been a beloved part of Disneyland Park since its debut in 1977–two years after its predecessor in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Over the years, the Tomorrowland attraction has undergone various updates, including seasonal overlays like Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain.

A photo shared by Reddit user u/Technogky shows a metal panel in Space Mountain’s queue with missing and loose screws, suggesting repeated tampering over time. The user captioned the image:

“Alright who’s playing with and stealing screws from Space Mountain.”

The image quickly gained traction among Disney Parks fans, some of whom pointed to poor maintenance as a contributing factor.

“They probably get loose over time seeing how they’re outdoors and in touching range of the queue,” commented u/Foe117. “You can see that the screw diagonally from the missing one is already on its way out, and would only need anyone in the queue to start fiddling with it until it’s fully out.”

Another user, u/spader113, agreed, adding, “If they were already loose and you stop right there during a ride breakdown, [it] would be nothin.”

Disney Parks Fans React to Guest Behavior

While some attributed the damage to wear and tear, others were quick to blame bored Disney Park guests for the tampering.
