Every Disney fan has their favorite resort they love to visit. Some think Walt Disney World can’t be beat. Others think a place like Disney World is too overwhelming and prefer the intimacy of Disneyland Resort. Some love the unique aspects of places like Tokyo Disney, Shanghai Disney, and Hong Kong Disney. And some love the European classicism of Disneyland Paris.
While everyone has their preference, there is something that sets Disneyland Resort apart from every other Disney resort — it is the only Disney Resort that Walt Disney was able to put his own personal touches on. Walt passed away in 1966, and it was up to his brother Roy to see that Walt’s “Florida Project” dream was brought to life.

Even though Disneyland Park has been open for 70 years, there are still a number of opening day attractions that guests can experience to see Walt’s dream in person. Guests can still enjoy Autopia, the Jungle Cruise, King Arthur Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, the Main Street Cinema, the Mark Twain Riverboat, Mr Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, the Storybook Land Canal Boats, and the Disneyland Railroad.
The Disneyland Railroad is one of the most iconic attractions in the theme park, but sadly, it has been closed for months for a big refurbishment. But after months of waiting, it will finally reopen in a matter of days!
The Disneyland Railroad is set to reopen to guests on October 25 after a lengthy closure for refurbishment. This iconic attraction, which has been a staple at Disneyland Resort, underwent extensive updates, including new tracks and enhancements to the station areas.
Guests will once again be able to enjoy a scenic Grand Circle Tour around the park, stopping at key locations such as Main Street, U.S.A., New Orleans Square, Frontierland, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland.
The Disneyland Railroad Frontierland stop has been particularly affected by recent construction as it transitions to accommodate the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — which is replacing Splash Mountain — construction has been going on for more than a year, and the railroad has been closed most of that time.

Excitement is building as Disneyland prepares for the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on November 15. This new attraction is a retheme of the former Splash Mountain and will provide an immersive experience featuring beloved characters from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009).
For those looking to get a sneak peek, special previews for Magic Key Holders will begin on October 21 and run until November 12. This preview opportunity allows dedicated fans a first look at the new experience and aims to create a buzz leading up to the official opening.
On the same day as the Disneyland Railroad reopening, the beloved Hungry Bear Restaurant will debut as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
This revamped venue will feature a Southern-inspired menu, including barbecue favorites such as pulled pork, beef brisket, and corn ribs. The restaurant’s new theming draws inspiration from Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree, adding to the delightful atmosphere of Bayou Country. Mobile ordering will be available, allowing guests to conveniently place orders and reduce wait times, especially during the anticipated opening rush.
In addition to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, the Haunted Mansion ride queue is receiving notable enhancements, promising a more visually appealing and immersive experience. The Haunted Mansion is also getting a brand-new retail location, much like Memento Mori in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
