5 Things You’re Going to Love About Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

One of the more unique themes that you’ll find at a Walt Disney World restaurant can be found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is located on Commissary Lane. The restaurant is quite popular, so if it’s on your must-try list make sure that you make a reservation. Here are five reasons why you’ll love Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant as much as we do.

5) Eat in Your Car

The premise of Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is simple. You and your party are at a drive-in movie. There is a giant screen in the front, and your table is shaped like a car. If you don’t normally let your kids eat in the car, they’ll have a great time bending the rules.

4) Movie Trailers

Half of the fun with Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is what is played on the screen in the front. You’ll see trailers from campy 1950’s and 60’s science fiction movies such as Attack of the 50 Foot Woman and Plan 9 From Outer Space. There are also newsreels, reminders to buy your popcorn, and an appearance by Walt Disney himself. The trailers run on a continual loop, so if you eat slowly you should be able to see the whole thing.

3) Milkshakes

While Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is mostly about atmosphere, you’ll need to eat and drink while you are there. Make sure you order a milkshake! While the vanilla and chocolate are delicious, the best is the Oreo Cookie Milkshake. For an extra fee you can order your milkshake in a collectible souvenir glass.

2) Simple Menu

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant’s menu has undergone some changes over the years, and what is served there now seems to be working. The food is simple, with choices such as Build-Your-Own Angus Chuck Burger and Salmon BLT. There are vegetarian options as well. Even dessert is now a bit on the simple side, with Hot Fudge Sundae or Warm Glazed Doughnut. Another fun dessert option is the House-made Sci-Fi Candy Bar. It’s made with chocolate mousse and sponge cake.

1) Out of this World Servers

Most Walt Disney World full service restaurants have fantastic servers. Those at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant are some of the best. They know the menu inside and out, they can make recommendations, they’re attentive without being overbearing, and they are friendly as well. If you ask a question and they don’t know the answer, they will find out immediately. The servers at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant make an already incredible dining experience even better.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
