Disney Reconfigures Bus Transportation to Theme Parks, Four Days of Old System Remain

The clock is running down on the current shuttle setup at Disneyland Resort. Hotel guests who ride Good Neighbor and third-party shuttle buses to the Disney parks have only a few days left at the existing drop-off point before a new location takes over in early November.

Sunday, November 1, is the last day those shuttle buses will drop off and pick up Disneyland Resort guests at the South Harbor Boulevard entrance near the Esplanade, between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Starting Monday, November 2, the buses will stop serving that location altogether.

Good Neighbor and third-party hotel shuttles will load and unload on the west side of Downtown Drive, near the Disneyland Hotel valet loop. The new stop is just steps from the Lululemon store in the Downtown Disney District. Rideshares and the Toy Story Parking Area shuttles already use this area, so it will serve as a shared hub for several modes of transportation.

The Reason Behind the Move

Construction on the eastern side of the Esplanade is driving the change. Disneyland Resort recently demolished several ticket booths there to make room for a pedestrian bridge. That bridge will connect to a new parking and transportation hub, which is currently under construction.

Once complete, the structure will offer approximately 6,000 parking spaces, more than 300 electric vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a dedicated zone for rideshares and shuttles. It is part of the DisneylandForward expansion project, which is intended to support heavier traffic when new experiences open. Those include the reimagined Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park and the Coco (2017) and Avengers Campus attractions in development at Disney California Adventure Park.

Tips for Hotel Guests

Anyone staying at an offsite hotel should check with the front desk or shuttle operator about the new pickup point before traveling after November 1. The walk to the Southern California Disney parks will begin in Downtown Disney instead of at the Esplanade, so leaving a little extra time is a good idea.
