Second Toy Story Land Preview At Walt Disney World

On Monday, April 23, I was part of a small group that was given an update on Toy Story Land. We are only 68 days away from opening! There is a lot of excitement in the air about the new land, and things are getting closer each day. Missed our first Toy Story Land preview? Click HERE to catch up!

We started off with a little bit of news about an activity that can help you to get excited about Toy Story Land. Go to the website toystoryplaytime.com. Slinky Dog Stretch is a game that has been live for a while, but today two new games were announced. They are The Claw Challenge and Trivia Mania. The first two games are based on the new rides that are coming to Toy Story Land. Trivia Challenge will test your knowledge of all things Toy Story. There are several difficulty levels available.

Next we learned about the progress of Toy Story Land. Test runs for Slinky Dog Dash are being held daily. (It you stand across from the future opening, back towards the wall near the face painting kiosk, you can see part of the track pretty well.) The new marquis has been installed, the blocks for the letters in the word “LAND” are two feet tall and two feet across. More Tinker Toy polls have been installed, those are for lighting and sound equipment. Everyone seems pleased with how things are progressing.

We did not get to actually enter Toy Story Land this time like we did last month, because it is a construction zone and there was lightning in the area. We were taken onto a walkway that Cast Members use where we could see some of the details. We weren’t allowed to take pictures. In the distance we could tell that there has been quite a bit of progress on the Alien Swirling Saucers building, and we could also see changes to Woody’s Lunchbox. There was a lot more color than the last time we were there.

One of the main questions that is asked right now about Toy Story Land is when and if there are going to be Passholder Previews. We were told that they are not yet far enough along to give out that type of information. Remember, Passholder Previews are not guaranteed. Keep checking here at Disney Dining for the latest information on Toy Story Land.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
