Safety Concerns Spark Debate After Incident in Galaxy’s Edge

Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland have reported concerns over slippery walkways during colder weather, raising safety questions about the themed land’s flooring. A recent guest report shared on social media described a series of alarming incidents involving falls, sparking debate over the design and maintenance of the area.

The guest recounted how their girlfriend slipped twice while walking at a normal pace through the immersive Star Wars-themed land. “The first fall was minor, but the second was pretty bad,” they explained. Compounding the issue, another visitor reportedly fell in the exact same spot, prompting widespread complaints from nearby guests about the hazardous conditions.

A Pattern of Slippery Walkways

Unlike other areas of Disneyland, Galaxy’s Edge features textured stone flooring that may contribute to its slippery surface. The design, intended to reflect the rugged terrain of Batuu, could become particularly slick in damp or cold conditions, leaving some guests questioning its practicality.

Discussion
Just a PSA to anyone going to the parks during the colder season. This morning my girlfriend slipped not once but TWICE in galaxy’s edge. We weren’t even moving quickly — just walking at a regular pace around the park. The first fall was minor but the second was pretty bad. Another lady slipped and fell at the exact same time as my girlfriend, and all around everyone was complaining about how slippery and dangerous the floors are.

Why is this area like this? None of the other attractions in the park are this slippery. I can’t help but imagine what would have happened if someone older like my grandmother had slipped and fallen instead of my girlfriend. Seems like a very bad accident waiting to happen.

Safety Measures and Guest Precautions

While Disneyland has not officially addressed this particular concern, the park is known for its commitment to guest safety. In the past, Disney has implemented adjustments to issues that could potentially cause danger for guests. Temporary signage, slip-resistant coatings, or enhanced cleaning protocols could potentially mitigate the issue in Galaxy’s Edge.

For now, guests are advised to exercise caution while walking through the area, particularly during colder or wetter weather. Wearing shoes with good traction and staying aware of uneven surfaces may help prevent slips and falls.

  1. You know, I’ve heard that Disneyland’s checking out ways to make those walkways safer after all the slip-ups. Better mats could really help keep that Batuu vibe! *facepalm*
