Disney’s youngest park, Animal Kingdom, is a realm where nature’s creations inspire awe and reverence. From the graceful flight of eagles to the regal presence of lions, each creature and attraction is a testament to the magnificence of the natural world. Amidst the thrilling escape from yetis on Expedition Everest and within the beautiful gardens of Pandora, Disney’s Animal Kingdom sometimes hides a secret character, one that has scared more than one guest at Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is made up of six themed areas, including Pandora, Discovery Island, Dinoland USA, Asia, and Africa. Each place is home to cultural references to wildlife and nature, creating what many would call one of the best-themed parks ever built. Thanks, Joe Rohde.
In this sacred realm of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, every animal embodies a unique essence, a spiritual significance that transcends the physical. From ancient folklore to modern-day symbolism, these creatures have been revered and honored for their divine qualities, and their usage in illustrations and art in countries worldwide is well-represented.
Of course, outside of the immaculate theming and immersive environments, in true Disney fashion, much like other Disney Parks, it isn’t uncommon to run into a few wild and rambunctious characters when exploring Animal Kingdom. Kevin from UP, Pocahontas, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse all reside as character experiences at the park.
However, there is one lesser-known character, one you won’t find in a Disney or Pixar film, that sometimes can be found hiding among the beautifully landscaped foliage of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
On several occasions, when crossing the walkway from Harambe to Asia, I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into DiVine. On even more occasions, I’ve been startled by her. Unlike the characters you’ll find at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, DiVine has an impressive way of blending in with her surroundings.
An unusual live performer, DiVine takes on the shapeless form of the live flora that rests along the pathway at Animal Kingdom. Although she has no official showtimes, she randomly pops up at the park, and if you aren’t paying close attention, you’ll certainly miss her!
DiVine is probably one of the more obscure experiences at Walt Disney World. Although she isn’t an actual Disney character, guests to Animal Kingdom still get excited to see her. However, some are easily startled by her long, outstretched limbs and green face when she slowly moves her viny appendages from the plants where she often stands.
DiVine at Disney’s Animal Kingdom serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all living beings and the importance of respecting and cherishing the natural world. It is a realm where humans can learn valuable lessons about harmony, balance, and the sacredness of life.
Highlighted here by user @Drunarawr on Reddit, you can see DiVine at Animal Kingdom. One quick glance at the comments will show you how much fans enjoy their interactions with her! Some even go as far as to speak on experiences in which she scared their spouses. I’ve shared this experience and can vouge that for small children and unsuspecting guests; she can definitely be startling, although beautiful.
So, the next time you visit Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, keep a sharp eye on the foliage as you venture from Harambe to Asia. You might get lucky and find DiVine entertaining guests along the pathway.
