Rachel Zegler, who made waves with her portrayal of Snow White in Disney’s recent live-action adaptation, is continuing her impressive career with another leading role. Just a month after the release of Snow White (2025), which has earned over $200 million at the box office, Zegler is already set to star in her next major film.
Her turn as the iconic Disney Princess sparked both excitement and controversy. The backlash she faced stemmed from comments she made years before the film’s release, including her description of the prince as a character who “literally stalks” Snow White and her promise to create a more independent, feminist take on the character. Additionally, her political views, which include outspoken opposition to President Donald Trump and advocacy for Palestine, added fuel to the fire, leading to online harassment and even death threats.
Despite these challenges, Zegler’s career continues to thrive. While some speculated that the mixed reception of Snow White and its box office performance would derail her career, Zegler is proving the naysayers wrong. As reported by Variety, she has been cast in the upcoming film She Gets It From Me, alongside Marisa Tomei. Directed by Julia von Heinz, the film is based on the true story of a woman named Nicky (played by Zegler) who embarks on a search for her estranged birth mother, Charlotte (played by Tomei), after a chaotic engagement celebration.
“YouTube is packed with tearful family reunions, but nobody films the messy aftermath,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“Rachel always brings a brilliant depth and humanity to her roles, and we are so excited for her to continue to showcase her versatility and humor as an actress,” said Jen Dana, one of the film’s producers.

Not only is Zegler starring in this upcoming film, but she is also preparing for her West End debut in “Evita,” following her Broadway debut in “Romeo + Juliet” just last year.
She Gets It From Me is currently being pre-sold at Cannes by Embankment Films, with an official premiere date yet to be announced.
