As This Classic Universal Attraction Closes, the Landscape Immediately Changes

In recent years, Universal Orlando Resort has become stiff competition for Walt Disney World, and we can totally see why.

With just two theme parks, Universal Orlando Resort has accomplished the same thing Walt Disney World has in conceptually half the space: becoming a major vacation destination for families who love exciting new experiences.

Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure are packed to the brim with classic attractions, but Universal Islands of Adventure especially.

Islands of Adventure is home to seven different neighborhoods, housing some of the most popular attractions in Orlando. For example, Marvel Super Hero Island houses the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk Coaster, Jurassic Park is home to the Velocicoaster and Jurassic Park River Adventure, and just beyond the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the Lost Continent.

The Lost Continent was home to Poseidon’s Fury, one of the theme park’s most unique walk-through attractions. However, Poseidon’s Fury recently closed its doors forever, and changes are already being made. Twitter user @Bioreconstruct has shared some fantastic photos showing the differences.

In this photo, we can see some fencing keeping Guests from accessing the closed attraction.

This photo shows a unique view of the Incredible Hulk Coaster, and @Bioreconstruct notes that it may be a limited view.

Finally, this photo shows that the water used to run in fountains outside the attraction has been turned off.

Make no mistake: it’s the end of an era for Universal Island of Adventure. Now, Guests are wondering what will replace the Lost Continent’s star attraction and if the Lost Continent is also living on borrowed time.
