Aloha cousins! It’s always a fun day when we get to write about Aulani: A Disney Resort & Spa. The gorgeous hotel is located right on the shores of Ko Olina and gives Guests a truly unique Disney experience. At Aulani, Guests can do things that they can’t do at any other Disney Resort, like relax and float down a lazy river, ride horseback on the beach, and see the island of O’ahu by catamaran. Guests can also interact with classic Disney characters wearing their vacation best, and eat at a number of delicious restaurants.
Aulani was hit incredibly hard by the pandemic, as Hawaii did not allow out-of-state travelers for a long time, it was even longer if you were an international traveler. The hotel was forced to close for months and, when it reopened, there were so many things that were different. However, with the decline in cases and the availability of vaccines, things are slowly getting back to normal at the Disney Spa. And now we are learning that one of the Resort’s signature dining experiences will reopen this fall.
Disney Parks Blog shared that ‘AMA ‘AMA will be reopening in late fall, but there will be some BIG changes. For one, the restaurant will only offer a signature dinner dining experience. Disney Parks Blog shared more on what other changes Guests can expect.
Soon to be unveiled, ʻAMA ʻAMA will feature a new, upscale dinner-only menu backed by a dynamic culinary team that invigorates each locally-inspired dish, cocktail, wine, and dessert with the Disney service and attention to detail guests have come to know and love at Aulani Resort.
Through collaborative efforts led by Disney Imagineer Jeanette Lomboy, guests with a careful eye will notice familiar details seemingly left by generations of family members, including our own beloved Aunty and Uncle, who lived in this space and continued to expand on it over time. New light fixtures inspired by traditional Hawaiian fish baskets and an alluring central light fixture composed of fin-like elements that swim above the entrance, enhance the connection between the restaurant and its namesake, the ‘ama‘ama fish –historically the most abundant and vital fish of Hawai‘i. We are excited to welcome you and your ʻohana back to ʻAMA ʻAMA to celebrate and enhance your vacation dining experience.
‘AMA ‘AMA is located across from Off the Hook in the Waikolohe Valley pool area, near the entrance to the beach. Disney has not announced the specific date that the restaurant will reopen, but said that a reopening date and a menu will be revealed soon! Disney Dining will keep you updated.
