Police Respond to Reports of an Active Shooter at Disney Resort

A truly horrifying scene has played out at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.

Every year, millions of fans travel to a Disney theme park around the world, looking for a magical vacation for the whole family. While many fans are able to find tranquility and joy in the confines of the Disney Parks, there is unfortunately no amount of magic that can completely protect guests from the dangers of the outside world.

Unfortunately, a breach of Disney tranquility happened last night at Disneyland Resort when Anaheim Police had to respond to reports of an active shooter on the property.

Police Respond to Shocking Report

Last night at around 6:10 p.m., the Anaheim Police Department responded to a distress call reporting an active shooter situation in close proximity to the iconic Disneyland Hotel, which lies within the confines of the Disneyland Resort. The police officers immediately sprang into action, ensuring the well-being of park guests and staff.

Upon receiving the urgent report, the Anaheim Police Department wasted no time in mobilizing their highly trained and capable forces, equipped with the necessary resources and expertise to handle such a critical situation. Their rapid response was a testament to their readiness and preparedness to protect the thousands of visitors who flock to the magical world of Disneyland.

According to a statement made by the Anaheim Police Department via their Instagram account,

“Tonight, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Anaheim Police Department Officers received a report of an active shooter at or near the Disneyland Hotel promoting a significant police response.”

However, when the police responded to the scene, they realized that the incident was not as initially described.

Shooter Report Was “A Hoax” According to Police

After responding to the scene of the Disneyland Hotel, police were able to deduct that the claim of an active shooter was not accurate. The Anaheim Police Department clarified;

” Responding Officers quickly determined the report was a hoax. Officers thoroughly checked the area and did not locate any evidence a shooting occurred. There is currently no threat to the Disneyland Resort or the surrounding area. “

It comes as a relief to everyone that this active shooter threat was not real. This situation truly demonstrated the quick and vigilant efforts of Disney Security and the Anaheim Police Department to help keep the community safe. All threats, even ones that end up being hoaxes, are taken as seriously as possible by these two parties.

The Anaheim Police Department followed up by saying,

“There will be an increased police presence at the Disneyland Resort and surrounding area throughout the evening.”
