Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort recently revealed what may be one of the most controversial foods to ever be released on Disney property — the pickle corn dog. You heard me right, a pickle corn dog.
Now, I’m sure that you never thought that you would hear the words pickle and corn dog together. The pickle corn dog has definitely caused a stir and division among foodies. It just sounds like an odd combination, and it is. However, it is an odd combination that really works together and comes out as a warm, flavorful, crunchy, and absolutely delicious treat.
If you love Disneyland’s super-popular homemade corn dogs and you also the theme park’s homemade pickles, then this is definitely a dish that you will want to try. A dill pickle is hollowed out, stuffed with a hot dog, dipped in cornbread batter, and deep-fried. The finished product is then rolled in panko bread crumbs and served warm. The pickle retains its structure and gives the corn dog a nice crunch when you bite into it.
The pickle in the corn dog also means less cornbread is used, which makes this new corn dog seem much lighter than the original one.
This dish was created by Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, a food stand located in Downtown Disney. The corn dog quickly became a hit for Disneyland Resort foodies who flocked to the food cart to try the new recipe. Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs frequently shares pictures of the pickle corn dog on its Instagram page. They have even shared a video of how they make the corn dog.
Some of our favorite foodies stopped by a few weeks ago to try The Pickle Corn Dog ?. We love this reel from @feast24seven . If you don’t already follow him on instagram and TikTok, you should be ?. His Pages will make you hungry, so come prepared lol. Now I’m craving a pickle dog ?!
The fried pickle corn dog is served with a bag of potato chips and a side of peanut butter. Now, while some people love to add on the peanut butter, this writer felt that it didn’t add much to the corn dog and preferred to eat the delicious confection sans PB.
If you would like to head to Downtown Disney to try this new corn dog — with or without peanut butter, be prepared to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes from the time you order it to the time you eat it. Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs makes each corn dog to order, so if it is a busy night, it may take a little while to get it. However, in my opinion, it is definitely worth the wait.
