Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian Replacement Officially Takes Over in New Disney Release
Pedro Pascal isn’t the only actor playing the Mandalorian anymore.
Disney previously confirmed that another performer would voice Din Djarin in a new Star Wars project, temporarily separating one of the franchise’s most recognizable modern characters from the actor who has played him since 2019.
At the time, that change was still waiting to reach audiences.
Not anymore.
Disney released LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian on Disney+ September 2. With the calendar now reading September 3, Pascal’s replacement has officially made his debut.
Gavin Hammon Takes Over as Din Djarin
Gavin Hammon voices Din Djarin in LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, replacing Pascal for the animated special.
The project revisits memorable events from all three seasons of The Mandalorian but presents them through the comedic style audiences expect from LEGO Star Wars.
That naturally separates the special from the live-action series.
Still, there’s no mistaking the casting change when Din starts talking.
Hammon, rather than Pascal, is the voice coming from underneath the Mandalorian’s helmet.
And Disney brought back several familiar performers elsewhere in the cast.
Several Original Stars Returned Without Pascal
Katee Sackhoff, Emily Swallow, Ming-Na Wen, Rosario Dawson, Temuera Morrison, and Giancarlo Esposito returned to voice their established characters.
That makes Pascal’s absence particularly noticeable.
Disney clearly didn’t establish a blanket policy of replacing its live-action stars with different voice actors for the LEGO project.
Instead, many returned while Din Djarin received a new voice.
We already covered that recasting when Disney confirmed it. The difference now is that audiences don’t have to wait to hear the result.
The special officially arrived September 2, making Hammon Disney’s newest performer to take on Din Djarin.
This Doesn’t End Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian Run
Despite the change, Disney hasn’t announced that Pascal has lost his live-action role.
Hammon’s casting applies to LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, and nothing currently confirms that he’ll replace Pascal in future live-action projects.
Pascal has also made it clear that he’s interested in continuing.
While promoting The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026), he expressed willingness to remain with the character for as long as audiences remained interested and he could physically continue.
Pascal also said he hoped Din and Grogu would receive another chapter.
The Mandalorian Has Been Played by Multiple Performers
There’s another wrinkle to this recasting.
Pascal has never been the only performer responsible for bringing Din Djarin to life.
Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder have worn the Mandalorian armor throughout the live-action series, handling action scenes and other sequences while Pascal provided Din’s voice.
Hammon’s involvement continues that unusual tradition, only this time viewers can hear the difference.
For now, Star Wars essentially has two current versions of the Mandalorian.
Pascal remains associated with live-action Din Djarin, while Hammon has officially taken control of the LEGO incarnation.
As of September 3, that replacement isn’t simply an announcement anymore.
