Back in September, Guests visiting Disneyland Park were surprised to see the classic walkthrough attraction Tarzan’s Treehouse covered in construction materials. Disney had not announced that the attraction would be closing, and they did not say what was going on or how long the attraction would be closed for. The attraction has remained closed for months without Disney sharing what is going on.
However, that changed a couple of weeks ago when Disney announced that Tarzan’s Treehouse is getting a major retheme. News of the retheme was shared with The Orange County Register, which reported:
Tarzan will soon be swinging out of his treehouse at Disneyland to make room for a re-themed attraction that will see a new Disney character move into the 80-foot-tall man-made tree in Adventureland.
Disneyland will reimagine Tarzan’s Treehouse in Adventureland with a new theme and backstory, according to Disneyland officials.
The treehouse experience isn’t going away, but the Tarzan theme won’t return when the attraction reopens, according to Disneyland officials.
While we don’t know what the retheme will be, or when it will be done, we are now learning that part of the attraction will be demolished. Scott Gustin shared on Twitter that the tree trunk walkway that would lead Guests up to the treehouse itself would be torn down. The area will then be cleaned up and will open up the walkway that is there.
As part of the retheming of Tarzan’s Treehouse at Disneyland, the attraction entrance and bridge will be demolished and removed entirely to open up this walkway.

The removal of the tree trunk stairway may come as good news to many Guests who frequent Disneyland Resort. The walkways that are currently in place can get very crowded since the popular ride Indiana Jones Adventure is in that area. There is also the Jungle Cruise, as well as the quick-service spot Bengal Barbecue. Opening up that area will make it easier for Guests to get from Adventureland to New Orleans Square and vice versa.
Disney officials not sharing what will become of the attraction — which was the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse before the Tarzan takeover — has led to a lot of people speculating what will happen. Many people think that the Disneyland attraction will become an Encanto attraction. Encanto creator Lin Manuel Miranda has said that he has spoken to Disney CEO Bob Chapek about bringing the popular movie to the Parks — so that kind of attraction could make sense.
Disney Dining will keep readers updated as Disney shares more information on what the attraction will become.
