Dollywood Confirms 3 Emotional Park Additions to Honor Dolly Parton’s Memory

Dolly Parton may be gone, but Dollywood is making sure the woman behind the park remains an important part of its future.

Parton died on August 25, 2026, at age 80, leaving fans, friends, and family mourning around the world. Her loss also carried enormous meaning at Dollywood, the Tennessee theme park she helped shape into a destination closely connected to her personality, values, and Smoky Mountain upbringing.

Now, Dollywood has revealed three additions designed to honor different parts of Dolly’s life. They will join the existing memorial, giving guests more permanent or longer-lasting places to remember her.

From a peaceful chapel transformation to an experience created for children, Dollywood is looking beyond Dolly’s entertainment career as it plans what comes next.

Dollywood Is Remembering More Than a Music Legend

Dolly built a relationship with fans that extended far beyond the songs and performances that made her famous.

Over the years, she became equally recognizable for her generosity, educational work, kindness, and love for her Smoky Mountain home. Those qualities also became an important part of Dollywood itself.

Her death in late August brought an outpouring of grief. It was recently revealed that Dolly privately battled cancer before her passing, making an already difficult loss even more emotional for those closest to her and the millions who followed her career.

For Dollywood, however, Dolly wasn’t simply a celebrity whose name appeared on the park.

Her childhood, family, faith, dreams, and Tennessee roots helped influence the destination guests experience today. Dollywood’s new additions will build on those connections while giving visitors different ways to remember her.

One Dollywood Tribute Will Offer a Quiet Place to Remember Dolly

One of the biggest projects will transform the area surrounding the Robert F. Thomas Chapel.

Dollywood plans to add a cascading mountainside waterfall directly outside the chapel’s front steps. The new feature will create a peaceful focal point where guests can pause and reflect while surrounded by the Smoky Mountains that played such an important role in Dolly’s story.

Between the waterfall and chapel, visitors will find another reflection area centered around a sculpted guitar.

Changes are also coming inside the chapel.

The existing plain windows will eventually give way to custom stained-glass artwork. Ecclesiastes 3:1, a Bible verse that carried special meaning for Dolly, inspired the design.

Its message focuses on the fact that there is a season and a time for everything. Dollywood will carry that idea into the artwork by depicting the changing seasons of the Smoky Mountains.

While this addition will celebrate Dolly’s faith and roots, another tribute will focus on the children she spent years encouraging.

A New Character Will Encourage Kids to Dream Big

Dollywood will introduce the Dream Maker to Wildwood Grove in 2027.

The interactive character will travel with the “Dream Wagon,” giving children an opportunity to share their dreams and hear stories inspired by Dolly.

The experience will encourage younger guests to believe in themselves, show kindness, and lift others up.

Those ideas connect closely with Dolly’s work in children’s literacy through her Imagination Library. The program became an important part of her legacy by encouraging children to read, learn, imagine, and think about their futures.

Dollywood will extend that interaction beyond the Dream Maker. Special message stations throughout Wildwood Grove will allow visitors to leave notes about the ways Dolly inspired them.

The result will give guests a chance to contribute their own stories to the park’s remembrance of its founder.

Dolly’s Remarkable Career Will Get a Bigger Welcome

The Dolly Parton Experience will also receive an addition as Dollywood expands its tributes.

The park plans to build a new immersive entrance that will act as a more prominent gateway into the existing experience.

Inside, visitors can explore Dolly’s career through memorabilia, personal stories, and important moments from her life. The redesigned entrance will create a stronger transition into the area and further establish it as a place dedicated specifically to Dolly.

Park leadership announced the project in September 2026 alongside the broader plans to honor her throughout Dollywood.

Each of the three additions approaches Dolly’s story differently, but together they create a much larger tribute.

Dolly Parton Will Remain at the Heart of Dollywood

Dolly’s influence on Dollywood was never limited to her name.

Her faith, childhood, music, generosity, love for children, and connection to the Smoky Mountains helped shape the park’s identity.

The Robert F. Thomas Chapel project will create a peaceful place for reflection. The Dream Maker will introduce Dolly’s message to another generation. The new entrance to The Dolly Parton Experience will place an even greater emphasis on her extraordinary career and life.

As these additions begin arriving over the coming months and into 2027, Dollywood is ensuring that Dolly’s story won’t simply become part of its past.

It will remain part of the park’s future.
