The EPCOT Experience first opened to Guests in 2019, and according to the Walt Disney World website, the last day to experience the EPCOT attraction is March 13, 2022. After that, it will close permanently.

The EPCOT Experience located at the Odyssey Events Pavilion combined artists’ renderings and high-tech elements to create a picture for Guests of the future of Walt Disney World’s second park. It also offered a variety of experiences for Guests to enjoy–experiences that celebrated the past, present, and future of EPCOT, its offerings, and the World Showcase.

Part of the experience included a 360-degree film presentation. During the presentation, Guests entered a darkened room surrounded by a screen that extended from the floor to the ceiling.

The film presentation that celebrated EPCOT lasted 12 minutes and incorporated archival footage from before the park opened in 1982. It also highlighted new things coming to EPCOT, including the Play! Pavilion, an upgraded version of Spaceship Earth, brand-new attractions based on Guest-favorite films, additions to EPCOT’s World Showcase, and EPCOT’s newest nighttime spectacular, Harmonious. The attraction also included a three-dimensional model of EPCOT in the center of the room that changed as the film itself moved forward, thanks to projection mapping technology.

Inside the EPCOT Experience attraction, Guests could also take a look at memorabilia from days gone by at EPCOT. Display cases held items for Guests to see like these:

  • An EPCOT Park map and a medallion from opening day on October 1, 1982
  • A commemorative opening day park ticket
  • EPCOT pin sets from 1982 and from the present day
  • Models of future EPCOT attractions
  • Concept artwork for experiences coming to EPCOT in the future

Disney World touts the attraction as a representation of the EPCOT of Tomorrow:

“Walt Disney Imagineering invites Guests to witness the progress predicted by Walt Disney himself when he said, ‘EPCOT will always be in a state of becoming.’ And now, the biggest transformation in Disney Park history is underway as EPCOT welcomes the next generation of immersive storytelling with brand-new attractions and astonishing interactive experiences.

“Visit the Odyssey Events Pavilion to discover a series of engaging exhibits that showcase the relentless innovation, energy, and excitement driving the Park’s unprecedented evolution!”

If you haven’t seen the EPCOT Experience attraction and you’re visiting EPCOT this weekend, be sure to take a look at the exhibition before it’s gone forever!
