Official: Disney World Confirms 3 Massive Park Additions Scheduled for 2027
The next major wave of Disney additions is already taking shape, and 2027 is becoming an important year for the Florida resort.
Construction crews are working on projects across the property, from new attractions and themed areas to another hotel. One Magic Kingdom classic is also undergoing a transformation that will bring major changes when it returns.
Three projects already have confirmed 2027 timelines, while others remain possibilities as Disney continues moving forward with its larger expansion plans.
Here’s what guests can officially expect next year—and what could potentially join the list.
Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom will receive one of the largest additions on the 2027 calendar.
Pueblo Esperanza, an 11-acre area inspired by Central and South America, is coming to Animal Kingdom. Disney is designing the fictional community with its own history and culture, giving guests a new place to explore within the park.
Two major attractions will anchor the land.
Indiana Jones will headline one of them. Disney says this adventure will differ from every other Indiana Jones attraction worldwide. Guests will follow Indy into a preserved Maya temple as he investigates stories surrounding a mythical creature.
The second attraction will bring Encanto (2021) to life in Disney’s first ride-through experience based on the film.
Guests will enter the Casita and join Antonio shortly after he receives his magical gift of communicating with animals.
Pueblo Esperanza will also offer more beyond those attractions. A large fountain will become a gathering place, while a working carousel will feature carved animals inspired by Disney stories.
Families will also find a themed play area. A large hacienda will house one of Walt Disney World’s biggest quick-service restaurants.
Disney currently plans to open Tropical Americas in 2027.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Arrives in Summer 2027
The next major addition will take guests outside the parks.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is taking shape along Bay Lake, giving Walt Disney World another resort in the Magic Kingdom area. Disney currently projects an opening in summer 2027.
The hotel will focus heavily on nature while mixing Disney storytelling throughout the property.
Disney has described the resort as a retreat where families can slow down, spend time together, and reconnect with the outdoors.
Its location will also make it attractive to guests planning to spend plenty of time at Magic Kingdom. Lakeshore Lodge will offer boat transportation to the park.
Disney has also introduced The Wetlands, a large outdoor recreation area positioned beyond the hotel lobby.
Construction continues as Disney releases more information about the project. Once the resort opens, it will become another Disney-operated hotel option near Magic Kingdom.
That new property will represent a completely fresh addition. Magic Kingdom’s other major 2027 project takes the opposite approach by rebuilding a familiar classic.
Carousel of Progress Gets a New Chapter
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is undergoing one of the biggest transformations in its history.
The Tomorrowland attraction closed in July 2026, and Disney expects the updated version to reopen in 2027.
Guests will notice a major change before the traditional family storyline begins.
Disney is adding an introductory scene featuring an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney. The sequence draws inspiration from a 1964 television special in which Walt introduced the Carousel of Progress before the New York World’s Fair.
The attraction’s familiar family will also move into entirely different decades.
The first act will take place in 1969 as the family watches the moon landing. Act Two will shift to Halloween night in 1985, with Sarah playing a larger role.
Act Three will move to New Year’s Eve 1999 as the family prepares for the new millennium and experiences the growing influence of the Internet.
The final act will head into a possible distant future. Disney plans to show the family living in a futuristic home featuring advanced technology, a helpful robot, and space travel.
“There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” will remain part of the experience.
More Major Projects Could Follow
Disney has two other major developments underway that could eventually join the conversation.
Monstropolis is under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Monsters, Inc. (2001) land will include a suspended coaster inspired by the door vault sequence, as well as dining, shopping, and other experiences.
Disney has not announced an opening year. Outside projections have pointed toward 2027 or 2028.
Piston Peak National Park is also moving forward at Magic Kingdom.
The expansion will bring the world of Cars into the park through two new attractions. Disney has not announced an opening year, while outside projections range from late 2027 through 2029.
Until Disney confirms those timelines, neither project belongs on the official 2027 list.
Disney World Already Has a Major 2027 Lineup
Even without Monstropolis or Piston Peak, Disney World already has a busy year ahead.
Tropical Americas will add an entire land and two attractions. Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will expand the resort lineup, while Carousel of Progress will return with new decades, new scenes, and Walt Disney himself helping introduce the experience.
With several other projects still under construction, Disney could have even more to announce before 2027 arrives.
