Disneyland Resort has given a beloved wooden Mickey Mouse statue a fresh look, delighting fans and restoring its iconic charm at Disney California Adventure Park. The makeover is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to maintain its theme park magic, even in the most minor details.
A Fresh Look for Mickey Mouse
The carved cedar Mickey Mouse statue, located near a Disney Vacation Club kiosk at Disney California Adventure Park, had shown signs of wear over time. Damage and weathering reportedly left it in need of repair.
Raymond Kinman, a renowned woodcarver who has contributed to Disney Parks projects, shared his involvement in the restoration on Reddit. Posting under the username u/raymond_klnman, Kinman shared a photo of the newly restored Mickey Mouse statue:
Mickey Gets a New Life
“Whenever a new carving shows up my inbox blows up, they want to know if this is my work. I can neither confirm nor deny. But I’ve heard rumors that this carved Cedar Mickey statue had to go to the hospital after some damage sustained at California Adventure Park. He was recently restored with some new luggage and is now back in place in his full glory!”
Fans Celebrate Mickey’s Makeover
The post quickly gained traction, with Disney Parks fans praising Kinman’s work and expressing excitement about Mickey’s new look.
“Good on you,” u/phicks_law commented. “Looks great. Love the work!”
“Love your work Raymond!” said u/kebe_krowe.
Restorations Across Disney Parks
This isn’t the first time Disney Parks fans have commented on the state of park features. In recent years, Disney Park guests have noted issues with ride breakdowns, chipped paint, and other maintenance needs across Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. However, efforts like Mickey Mouse’s makeover demonstrate Disney’s commitment to preserving its attractions and themed decor.
Disney has been tackling other restoration projects across its parks and resorts, ensuring guests continue to enjoy the immersive magic. At Walt Disney World Resort, a massive Baloo statue at Pop Century Resort is undergoing repairs, and Magic Kingdom Park recently shut down its Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster for a year-long refurbishment.
