Non-Traditional Santa Meet and Greets Offer Unique Experiences

Christmastime is here and that can only mean one thing: Santa needs a vacation! Luckily Disney is happy to accomodate the big guy! He can make his list, check it twice, and catch some rays while he’s at it. Disney Parks have so many ways to meet Santa that you’ll find yourself wanting to check out every single one.  From traditional to unconventional you’ll find St. Nick having a blast as he shares the magic of Christmas at Walt Disney World

The World Showcase in EPCOT is your go-to if you want to meet Santa but don’t want your run of the mill experience. During the Festival of the Holidays, Santa makes the rounds as a storyteller explaining the ways people know and celebrate him all over the world. After he’s done with his story, he’s usually inclined to pause for a photo or two before he has to go check in to make sure those elves are on task up in the North Pole!

Barn Santa in the Norway Pavilion is always one of our favorites. In Norway Santa gets to let loose a little and rather than a kindly old man, he can be as mischievous as he likes. He tells jokes and makes wise cracks whole decked out on a festive Nordic sweater!

Father Christmas is another of our favorite iterations! The U.K’s version of Santa bears little resemblance to ours except for the bowl full of jelly and bushy white beard. Here you’ll sing carols, look at pictures and hear stories from Father Christmas’ adventures in the United Kingdom!

New this year, Santa is hanging 10 at Blizzard Beach. Tropical Santa is available to meet daily near Sonny’s Sleds! We bet he feels right at home in the snow covered terrain of Blizzard Beach…we just hope he remembered his sunscreen!

Bonus meet! Santa takes a break in Italy and we get the chance to meet one of Christmas’ most unique characters:  La Befana, the Christmas witch who, like Santa,  brings treats to good children and coal to bad ones. We like to imagine the two are good friends and “talk shop” behind the scenes.

About Jill Bivins

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
