Guests Watch on as Construction Makes Major Progress
Earlier this year, fans of Disney were thrilled to hear the announcement of Disney California Adventure’s newest area, San Fransokyo Square. Based on the iconic land from the hit animated movie Big Hero 6, San Fransokyo Square will pay homage to the diverse cultures and stunning landscapes of both San Francisco and Tokyo.
The area will replace what was formerly the Pacific Wharf. In its place, San Fransokyo will bring exciting new restaurants, merchandise, and meet and greets. The artistic renderings of the land show that it is going to be a stunning and very unique addition to the Park. Disney explains;
“San Fransokyo Square will transport you to the not-too-distant future, in a fictional mash-up of two iconic cities – San Francisco and Tokyo. As the tech industry began to emerge and the local fishing trade fell on hard times, entrepreneurs came together to reinvent the seaside canneries into a vibrant, multicultural district of neighborhood restaurants and small businesses where you’ll be able to eat and shop.”
Up Goes the Area Landmark!
For many people, the most exciting part of the new area will be the stunning entrance. The San Fransokyo Gate Bridge will serve as the portal for Guests entering into the world of Big Hero 6. This gate, which is inspired by San Fransisco’s Golden Gate Bridge as well as Japanese architecture, is going to be a stunning addition to the Park.
Guests visiting Disney California Adventure Park today were in for quite a sight. Currently, construction teams on cranes are hauling up the pieces of the massive bridge. Usually, Disney tried to conceal construction like this, but today it was all on display.
