Mr. Toad’s history at the Walt Disney World Resort truly has been a “wild ride,” and it seems that ride is not over! Scenes of the previous Magic Kingdom attraction have been seen in the Park once again, but maybe not where you would expect.
The History of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
Many longtime Walt Disney World fans remember the opening day attraction, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. This thrilling storybook adventure was inspired by The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949).
The attraction first debuted at Disneyland in California during the Park’s opening in 1955. When Disney’s second theme park, Walt Disney’s World’s Magic Kingdom, opened on October 1, 1971, the Orlando version of the famous attraction was born.
This fan-favorite dark ride placed Guests in the role of Mr. Toad, zooming through the London countryside. During the locomotive’s wild course, Guests were “hit” by a train and then journeyed into Hell upon the ride’s final scenes. Walt Disney World’s adaptation featured two different tracks with differing storylines and scenes, unlike Disneyland’s attraction.
On September 7, 1998, to many fan’s disappointment, the Walt Disney World attraction closed for good and was replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. However, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride still operates in Disneyland.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride Spotted in Tomorrowland?!
Now, it seems that Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has returned to Walt Disney World once again… in a manner of speaking. Far from the attraction’s original home in Fantasyland, scenes from the ride can currently be found in Tomorrowland.

For a limited time, Guests can pose in front of a scene from Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. This backdrop design allows Guests to seem as if they’re riding through a scene in the former Magic Kingdom attraction‘s vehicle.
The design features the angry railroad worker, the devil that Guest’s met on the way to Hell, and a road sign reminiscent of the past attraction. The signs read, “Beware, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Dangerously Going, Nowhere in particular.”
Guests will find this photo spot near the former location of Stitch’s Great Escape (another past Park attraction) in Tomorrowland. This photo spot stands in the Park for the Halloween season, so grab your photo before it’s gone!
More Spooky Photo Spots
Mr. Toad isn’t the only icon receiving a spooky photo spot this Halloween. Near the entrance to Tomorrowland, Guests can also find a photo backdrop featuring The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Pose with the Headless Horseman, surrounded by flaming pumpkins and headstones. These backdrops are the perfect photo spot for your festive Park photos this season.
