The new Miley Cyrus special set to air on Disney+, will feature a tribute to Disney Channel original sit-com Hannah Montana and the singer-songwriter’s breakout role with the children’s network when she was just a child.
With the release of her eighth studio album, the 30-year-old pop star and daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus has partnered with Disney Branded Television to release Miley Cyrus ‒ Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions). The live concert special, which is part of a series Miley has done since 2012 as a thank you to her fans, will premiere on the Walt Disney Company’s streaming platform the same day as her album’s global debut.

Produced by RadicalMedia, HopeTown Entertainment, Crush Management, and Columbia Records, Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) will include right songs from the album, a feature between Cyrus and music icon Rufus Wainwright, and a special surprise for Miley’s Disney Channel fans, many of which are all grown up, just like the star herself.
Although these days many know her for edgier and more mature hits like viral TikTok audio “Flowers,” and “Wrecking Ball,” Cyrus got her start as a star while filming Hannah Montana, playing both girl-next-door Miley Stewert and her country-pop star persona, Hannah. In fact, following its 2006 release on the Disney Channel, the show’s popularity and massive pre-teen fanbase spurred both real life national tours for Montana’s repertoire and a theatrical release, Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009).

Of course, fans will remember that the film featured “The Climb,” an original song on the soundtrack which reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 songs chart, according to Billboard. Now, Cyrus will revisit the classic hit as a treat for nostalgic “Smilers” everywhere during the Disney+ live show.
