Marvel Studios has officially introduced a new version of one of the most powerful characters in Marvel history.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Spoiler Warning!
Following the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), the studio has confirmed that Sadie Sink has taken over a role previously played by two major stars from the X-Men franchise.
The new film follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which saw Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) erase the world’s memories of Peter Parker (Tom Holland), including those of his girlfriend MJ Watson (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon).
According to Marvel’s official synopsis, Peter is now “fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him” while facing “a powerful villain no one can even see.”
While Brand New Day is primarily focused on Spider-Man’s next chapter, the movie also marks a significant moment for the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following months of speculation, with her character being kept a secret by the studio, cast, and creatives, Brand New Day reveals that Sadie Sink is officially the new Jean Grey.
The character is one of Marvel’s most recognizable mutants, with Famke Janssen bringing Jean Grey to life in the original X-Men trilogy.
Janssen’s portrayal began with X-Men (2000), continuing through X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). She later returned for appearances in The Wolverine (2013) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Sophie Turner later took on the role of a younger Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019).
Now, Sink becomes the latest actor to portray the character as Marvel Studios prepares its own version of the mutant universe.
The timing of Jean Grey’s introduction is particularly interesting, with Marvel continuing to build toward the arrival of more mutant characters. While Sadie Sink is not currently announced for Avengers: Doomsday (2026), which already features several actors from Fox’s X-Men movies, her debut could signal where Marvel intends to take the character next.
With the MCU entering a new era, Jean Grey’s future could be one of the biggest storylines to watch.
