LATEST: Mark Hamill’s Trump Post Triggers White House Fury

Friction between Hollywood and Washington is nothing new, but few franchise stars have remained as publicly combative in the Trump era as Mark Hamill.

The Luke Skywalker’s political posts have increasingly become headline material separate from his work in Star Wars. He has spent years criticizing Donald Trump online, endorsing Democratic candidates and posting frequently about elections, voting rights, and American democracy. His commentary has repeatedly divided Star Wars fans, particularly across X, formerly known as Twitter.

Hamill supported Joe Biden in 2020 and later backed Kamala Harris during her 2024 campaign. He has also mocked Trump posts using the voice of Batman villain the Joker, a role he famously voiced for decades.

This week, one social media post pushed the feud even further.

Trump Officials Lash Out After Viral Mark Hamill Post

On May 6, Hamill shared an AI-generated image on Bluesky depicting Trump beneath a gravestone labeled “Donald J. Trump: 1946–2024” beside the phrase, “If only.”

The post circulated rapidly online before drawing attention from the Trump administration’s Rapid Response 47 account.

Hamill followed the image with an additional statement directed at the president.

“He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON.”

The White House response arrived shortly afterward.

“@MarkHamill is one sick individual,” the account wrote on X. “These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”

The administration’s statement comes amid heightened political tensions and continued security concerns surrounding Trump’s appearances.

On April 25, gunshots were reportedly fired near the security screening area outside the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

The exchange immediately reignited debate online over celebrity political commentary, with Hamill trending across multiple social platforms throughout the day.

Hamill has since issued a semi-apology on Bluesky, writing: “Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate.”

Hamill’s Political Persona Has Expanded Beyond ‘Star Wars’

The latest clash adds to a growing list of public disputes between Hamill and Trump-aligned figures.

After Trump’s 2024 election victory, Hamill revealed he had considered relocating abroad before deciding to remain in the United States.

“She’s very clever. She didn’t respond right away, but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country,’” Hamill told The Times. “That son of a bitch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”

The White House later mocked those remarks online and compared Hamill to Rosie O’Donnell after her move to Ireland.

Only days before the latest controversy, Hamill appeared alongside former President Barack Obama in a promotional video tied to Star Wars Day celebrations on May 4.

The video promoted the Obama Presidential Center and leaned heavily into Star Wars references. Obama described “a young person born into ordinary circumstances but restless, unsatisfied. A kid with big dreams. A bit of a rebel.”

“They join a scrappy group of underdogs and set out to change things,” Obama continued.

Hamill interrupted with: “By blowing up a giant space laser?!”

Obama replied: “Mark, this is not about you, as wonderful as you are. This is about them. This isn’t a monument to my legacy. It’s a gateway to yours.”

After Obama pitched the center as “a Force — for change,” Hamill answered in a Yoda voice: “Strong, the dad jokes are.”

The renewed political attention also arrives as Hamill continues distancing himself from the future of Star Wars.

The actor has repeatedly suggested Lucasfilm should move away from legacy characters like Luke Skywalker, saying in 2025 that the franchise should “focus on the future and all the new characters.”

Hamill later joked there was “no way” he would return as a “naked Force ghost” after Luke’s death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Still, he has spoken positively about his appearance in The Mandalorian, saying the series finally portrayed Luke – who comes to escort Grogu for his Force training – as a Jedi Master “at the peak of his powers.”

Some have called for Mark Hamill to be recast by a different actor to continue Luke Skywalker’s adventures between Return of the Jedi (1983) and The Force Awakens (2015).

  1. I’m fed up with the hypocrisy and violence perpetrated by these leftists who call themselves inclusive. Besides, 50% of Star Wars fans are either republicans or libertarians, so why try to alienate 50% of people? Mark Hamill should receive the same treatment the new owners gave Ben & Jerry’s: keep your political opinions to yourself, period.

    1. Not sure what you’re complaining about.

The hate and vitriol from the GOP is perfectly fine, but Dems are perpetrators of violence?

Some of Trump’s attackers are conservatives. Multiple Dems have been political victims of violence, including murder.

      The whiniest ‘victims’ are MAGAts.

      1. And there you have it, just like in the days of Joe China Biden, I am now censored in the comments because it is impossible to respond to you with arguments instead of violence.

      2. Have you even seen the meme posted by that classless actor in the first place? Imagine the outrage if Reps had done something like that to Obama or Biden — the media would have been talking about it for weeks! YES, Dems and their minions in the MSM are perpetrators of violence. Who left the border wide open for 4 years? Which states are sanctuary states (cities)? Who constantly protests against ICE? Which party was most present during the so-called “summer of love”? Which party started sowing division from day one of Trump 45’s presidency by accusing him of being a Russian agent? Who are those who call him a Nazzi today? TDS is a disease constantly fueled by the media and all of Hollywood. From north of the border.

  2. I agree with “Snogg” concerning who the whiniest victims are. They’re either knocking the Democrats or encouraging violence, all the while denying doing either. Makes me tired. The one thing the Republicans are good at though, is spending our money on their pet projects, none of which help anyone other than their peeps. Leave Hamil alone. He certainly isn’t any worse than Trump with his comments.

    1. If ICE jobs and the end of the open border is a pet projects, getting rid of Maduro make no sens, stop the iranien nuclear program is bad, I wonder what is tampons in boys bathroom, millions sends to others countries for the trans agenda, hidden programs paid by the taxpayers like the ones in Minnissota under the nose of Tim Walz, and so on, as Musk find out last year. Let Trump be Trump, I’d rather this type of guy than a deep state bureaucrat like Biden who did nothing for the country.

    2. No, Snogg is not correct. The violence and the rioting and the shootings and the anti-Semitism is coming from one side and that’s the left.

  3. 4. This is disgusting!!! I have never seen a republican post such vile! Depicting the death of a sitting president!! Makes my blood boil!

  5. Like or hate the guy. TRUMP has and always will tell it like it is. Years ago Hollyeood loved him, now he has dirt on them and many in the government. They trying to do anythjng to get rid of him. Now, To wish death to Any and I repeat Any sitting President, that person should be arrested and tried for Treason. Hollywood would do better if they kept doing their job then telling us who or who we should not vote for. PLUS any page(like this one) who has Disney in their title shouldn’t post anything Political. Stick to Park, Cruise News

  6. Trump spends every hour of every day spewing bile that the Democrats aren’t people, and how much he hates them, and how horrible they are. Turnabout is, apparently, unfair. He can dish it out, but he can’t take it. Hamill’s post was no more or less worse than some of the things I have seen posted about the Democrats. A man whom Trump was opposed to died, and Trump’s response was, “Good. I’m glad he’s dead!” His administration openly threatened the sitting Pope, but not one word about that from the Republicans. Where was your outrage then? What about when he depicted himself as Jesus (and don’t give me that “He was a doctor” nonsense)? Why weren’t you outraged and offended by that?

    1. During his first term, the Democrats subjected Trump and his family to every possible manipulation to force him out of the Presidency, (without success!) though they failed to acknowledge Joe Biden’s dementia during his final months. Memes are memes, but there are limits: I’ve never seen a meme as violent as Hamill’s one. Regarding the Pope, he condemns his own country for wanting to end the Iranian nuclear program. I think Jesus had a more long-term vision than the current Pope! For ONE MONTH, I dare you to watch Bret Beir on Fox News at 6 PM for Fair and Balanced news; you could learn the other side of any story instead of the narrative imposed by the MSM with every change they get. Hope you’re doing well with the Trump vaccine. And that is coming from north of the border stuck of a Chines puppet as PM…
