Major Disney World Coaster Shut Down for Third Straight Day With No Reopening Timeline

A major Walt Disney World attraction has now been unavailable for three consecutive days, and guests still don’t know when it will return.

Slinky Dog Dash remains closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios after failing to operate on August 31 and September 1. The Toy Story Land coaster remained unavailable as September 2 began, officially pushing the unexpected shutdown into a third straight day.

Disney has not announced a reason for the downtime or provided a reopening timeline.

At this point, what might have initially looked like an ordinary attraction interruption has turned into a much more significant closure.

Slinky Dog Dash Remains Offline

Temporary ride closures aren’t unusual at Walt Disney World. Attractions can experience technical or operational problems throughout the day before reopening later.

Slinky Dog Dash’s current situation has been different.

The coaster didn’t operate at all on August 31. It remained closed throughout September 1, and guests arriving the following morning once again found the attraction unavailable.

The recent problems may stretch back even further. Slinky Dog Dash also experienced several hours of downtime on August 28 and August 29 before this three-day stretch began.

Disney has not said whether those earlier interruptions are connected to the current closure.

More importantly, there has been no indication of when normal operations will resume.

This Creates a Bigger Hollywood Studios Problem

Losing Slinky Dog Dash doesn’t only affect guests heading into Toy Story Land.

The coaster regularly attracts some of the longest lines at Hollywood Studios. That means a significant number of guests who would normally spend time waiting for Slinky Dog Dash suddenly have to find something else to do.

Hollywood Studios isn’t exactly overflowing with extra attraction capacity, either.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway becomes an obvious alternative for families. Toy Story Mania! and Alien Swirling Saucers can also absorb guests who intended to spend their morning inside Toy Story Land.

Others may head toward The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

That’s where one closed attraction can begin affecting an entire park.

Guests Should Prepare for the Closure to Continue

There is currently nothing confirming Slinky Dog Dash will remain closed for a specific number of additional days.

There’s also nothing confirming when it will reopen.

That’s an important distinction. Disney hasn’t announced a refurbishment or indicated that the attraction is beginning a planned lengthy closure.

For now, this remains unexpected downtime.

Still, after three consecutive days, guests shouldn’t build their Hollywood Studios plans around the assumption that Slinky Dog Dash will be available.

Anyone visiting should check My Disney Experience before heading directly toward Toy Story Land and have an alternative plan ready.

The longer Slinky Dog Dash stays down, the bigger its absence becomes.

Disney isn’t simply missing one coaster. Hollywood Studios is operating without one of its most popular attractions and a ride that normally absorbs substantial demand.

Until Slinky Dog Dash starts running again, that lost capacity could continue being felt throughout the park.
