The construction footprint at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park has grown again. Guests arriving to board the ferryboat this week are finding a noticeably different landscape along the Seven Seas Lagoon.
The Walls Expand Outside Magic Kingdom Park
On Monday, WDWNT reported that the green construction walls that appeared along the ferryboat queue at the Magic Kingdom Park entrance last week had been extended further. Temporary fencing is now guiding guests around the barriers as they line up for watercraft transportation to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Concrete blocks and other construction equipment are visible in the area, though no active building work has been observed behind the walls yet.
Walt Disney World Resort made no public announcement about expanding the construction zone.
What’s Being Built
The growing barrier presence at the Magic Kingdom entrance is the most visible sign yet of a project Walt Disney World Resort first signaled in early 2026. Florida’s water management district approved Disney’s plans for a new ferryboat dock at the Magic Kingdom in March, with the expansion designed to increase transportation capacity between the original Central Florida Disney park and the Transportation and Ticket Center — the only parking area available for Magic Kingdom Park visitors.
Running alongside the dock project is the addition of a fourth ferryboat to the Seven Seas Lagoon fleet. The new vessel, named the Meg Gilbert Crofton after the fourth president of Walt Disney World Resort, will join the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter, and the Richard F. Irvine when it debuts sometime in 2027. Construction is also underway nearby on a floodplain compensation area connected to the dock development.
Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a grand opening date for the new ferryboat dock, though it will likely align with the arrival of the Meg Gilbert Crofton.
Getting to the Magic Kingdom in the Meantime
Ferryboat service between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center continues to operate normally throughout the construction period.
Monorail service to the TTC remains available as an alternate route for Walt Disney World Resort guests who prefer to avoid the construction zone near the ferryboat queue.
