The scope of an ongoing construction project at Magic Kingdom Park became significantly more visible on July 22, with new barriers now extending directly into the path that Walt Disney World Resort guests use to board the ferryboat.
Green Walls Line the Ferryboat Queue at Magic Kingdom Park
BlogMickey reported on July 22 that green construction walls had been installed at the South end of the future ferryboat dock site outside Magic Kingdom Park, running alongside the Seven Seas Lagoon walkway that connects the park’s entrance to the ferryboat loading platform. The outlet shared a photo showing the barriers positioned directly beside the stanchions and ropes where guests line up for ferryboat service to the Transportation and Ticket Center.
The walls don’t just block the view — they wrap around a corner, and from the ferryboat loading platform, Central Florida Disney Park guests can already see concrete blocks and other construction materials stacked behind them. The expansion of the visible construction zone into the guest-facing walkway marks a meaningful progression from the earlier phases of the project, which had been focused on land clearing and floodplain compensation work further from the park entrance.
Ferryboat service between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center continues to run normally throughout the construction period. Monorail service remains available for Walt Disney World Resort guests who prefer an alternate route.
The Project Behind the Walls
The construction now reaching the ferryboat queue is the visible result of a project Walt Disney World Resort has been working toward since early 2026, when the resort first filed permits for a new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park. Those permits received approval from the local water management district in March, and ground-level work began in June with land clearing and floodplain work along the Seven Seas Lagoon shoreline.
The new dock is being built to support the arrival of a fourth ferryboat — the Meg Gilbert Crofton — which is expected to join the existing fleet on the Seven Seas Lagoon sometime in 2027, expanding transportation capacity between the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced a specific opening date for the new dock itself beyond the ferryboat’s broader 2027 window.
