LEGOLAND Announces Operational Meltdown, Shutdown Effective Immediately

LEGOLAND Florida Resort faced an unexpected disruption on Thursday, June 12, 2025, as a power outage caused a widespread shutdown across many of the park’s attractions and operations. The outage led to the temporary suspension of several attractions, with visitors left unsure of when normal operations would resume.

In response to the situation, LEGOLAND Florida posted an official statement on Instagram, informing park guests of the technical issue and outlining compensation plans for those affected. The Florida resort, which opened in 2011 on the site of the former Cypress Gardens theme park, is part of a global chain of LEGOLAND parks, with locations in California, New York, Malaysia, Dubai, Japan, Korea, Denmark, the UK, Germany, and Italy.

In addition to its namesake theme park, LEGOLAND Florida also includes Peppa Pig Theme Park, LEGOLAND Water Park, and three hotels: LEGOLAND Hotel, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, and Pirate Island Hotel.

The park’s Instagram story read, “PARK UPDATE: The Resort is experiencing a power outage. Guests may experience temporary closures while we work with TECO Energy to restore power. Guests currently in the park will receive an ‘Experience Promise,’ which allows use of existing tickets for one more visit within one year from today.”

The “Experience Promise” is a version of the park’s “Rainy Day Promise,” designed to ensure that guests can revisit the park at a later date if a disruption like this one affects their experience. While LEGOLAND Florida typically remains open during all weather conditions, this program provides reassurance when extended closures occur.

As of the announcement, the power outage had not yet been resolved, and there was no update on when the situation would be fully addressed. LEGOLAND Florida Resort has not disclosed how many attractions were impacted by the outage, leaving guests to check with customer service for more details.

**Editor’s Note: Around 2:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 12, LEGOLAND Florida Resort published the following statement: “The Resort has returned to normal operations with power restored following a community-wide outage. To ensure your experience is as smooth as possible, we’ve activated our ‘Experience Promise.’ If you’re unable to fully enjoy your visit, you can return another day to experience the attractions at no extra charge.”
