America’s 1st Theme Park Posts 2025 Closure Notice After 104 Years of Magic

Knott’s Berry Farm has been a cornerstone of Southern California‘s theme park history for over a century. Known as America’s 1st Theme Park, the beloved destination has welcomed millions of guests since its opening in 1920. However, a recent update on the park’s website has sparked concern among fans, with a calendar notice suggesting the park will close in November 2025.

The confusion began when Reddit user u/amelie031203 noticed an unexpected calendar update while browsing Knott’s Berry Farm‘s website. The park’s calendar displayed that it would remain closed for the entire month of November 2025, a significant deviation from its usual operations.

“I checked the website’s calendar and it’s saying it’s closed the entire month and I can’t find any information on it,” the Redditor shared. “…As a season pass holder this is sad to see, and I was wondering if we would still be charged for a month we can’t even go to.”

November typically marks the start of Knott’s Merry Farm, a fan-favorite holiday event featuring festive decor, seasonal treats, and beloved shows. The sudden notice has left fans puzzled and worried about the park’s future.

Since its humble beginnings as a berry farm, Knott’s has grown into a world-renowned theme park. Over its 104-year history, it has introduced thrilling theme park attractions, hosted seasonal events like Knott’s Scary Farm and the Boysenberry Festival, and expanded to include Knott’s Soak City and The Knott’s Hotel.

Unlike many theme parks, Knott’s Berry Farm operates 364 days a year, with closures limited to Christmas Day or severe weather conditions. A month-long closure in November is unprecedented.

Could It Be a Mistake?

While the calendar notice has caused alarm, some fans believe it may be nothing more than a technical error.

“It’s an error; they haven’t updated the November hours yet,” Reddit user u/BelovedBeagle commented. “The only day Knott’s is closed is Christmas Day (and occasionally on days when it rains way too much, which Knott’s announces on their social media). Knott’s should be open in November.”

Other fans have shared similar experiences with inaccuracies on Knott’s digital platforms.

“I went today but checked the app before going and it said it was closed today,” u/Naive_Move1211 shared. “I checked the live cams and saw that it was opened.”

As of now, Knott’s has not released a statement addressing the calendar notice. While many believe it to be an error, the possibility of a prolonged closure—especially during the bustling holiday season—has left fans on edge. Guests are encouraged to check the park’s website closer to their visit for the most accurate operating hours and event updates.
