If I Only Had One Day at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, I Would…

You know Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort for its many fun family rides and attractions. You know Epcot for its World Showcase and Spaceship Earth. And you know Animal Kingdom for its newly-built World of Avatar and its many Guest favorites like Expedition Everest. And then you know Hollywood Studios for its new lands—one recently opening and the other nearing its final phases of construction. As we celebrate the opening of Toy Story Land and prepare for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios, let’s look at all there is to do in a day in the park right now! Here are 10 things I’d do if I only had one day at Hollywood Studios!

10. Ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith.

If you love thrill rides with twists, turns, corkscrews and loop-di-loops and you only have one day to spend at Hollywood Studios, you’ve got to ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! You’ll board a limo and race off to the Aerosmith concert in Los Angeles along a very busy highway. The ride reaches top speeds of around 58 miles per hour! Bonus points if you like Aerosmith’s music, as it is playing loudly in your limo.

9. Visit the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Your singular day at Hollywood Studios has got to include a tour of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, followed by a ride in one of its haunted elevators. Rumor has it that the hotel was once a beautiful home away from home for Hollywood’s elite. But on the night of October 31, 1939, after a freak storm, that all changed. The hotel closed its doors to guests after that night when 5 people in the hotel’s elevator disappeared without explanation. You’re invited to tour the hotel now and step inside its elevators—if you dare. What happens next is just about anyone’s guess!

8. Do a mini cupcake crawl.

If you’re a Disney foodie, you probably already know that Hollywood Studios is a great place to try different themed cupcakes. Visit the Trolley Car Café and try the Peanut Butter Crunch cupcake sprinkled with Butterfinger pieces. Or visit the Backlot Express restaurant and try either a BB-E9 cupcake or a Kylo Ren cupcake (either way, may the force be with you). You can even visit Mama Melrose’s Italian restaurant and try the Spaghetti and Meatballs cupcake—don’t worry; it’s all chocolate, icing and fondant!

7. Go to a carnival.

Of sorts—at Toy Story Mania. If you only have one day at this park, be sure it includes trying your skill at five different carnival-type games—all while in the company of your favorite characters from Disney/PIXAR’s Toy Story!

6. Have lunch in the 1950s.

Enjoy lunch (or dinner) at the 50s Prime Time Diner at Hollywood Studios. You’ll enjoy lots of comfort food like pot roast and Mom’s meatloaf while seated at 50s-era tables. Enjoy clips from popular 1950s sitcoms on television sets near each table. And be sure to finish your meal with a peanut butter and jelly milkshake!

5. See Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage!

Relive the “tale as old as time” and sing along with songs from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Brilliantly-colored costumes, elaborate props and creative choreography come together to tell the story of Belle and the Beast like never before! FastPass+ service is available for this attraction, and it’s worth one of your selections to get a good seat for the show!

4. Meet Star Wars characters.

If you only have one day to spend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and you are also a Star Wars fan, head over to Star Wars Launch Bay where you’ll not only be able to see objects and props from recent Star Wars films; you’ll also be able to meet BB-8, Kylo Ren and Chewbacca. Pose for pictures with these characters and enjoy the encounter!

3. Board a StarSpeeder 1000.

Take a flight aboard a StarSpeeder 1000 at Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Fly to destinations made popular by the Star Wars saga when you experience this thrilling simulation attraction. Hold on tight as C-3PO tries to pilot your ship (even though he’s had no training). And keep your eyes open for the rebel spy among your traveling party!

2. Relive the story of Ariel and her journey.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a stage production that tells the story of The Little Mermaid. Ariel wants to have human legs, but King Triton wants her to stay away from the surface of the ocean. She makes a sketchy deal with a huge likeness of Ursula the Sea Witch on stage so that she can have her legs. But it will cost her her voice. Actors, puppets, lasers and music from the hit film come together to tell Ariel’s story. Don’t miss it!

1. See Toy Story Land!

Ok, if you only have one day at Hollywood Studios, you’ll have to stop by Andy’s backyard, say hello to Woody, Buzz and Jessie and hop aboard the Slinky Dog Dash for a fun family adventure around Andy’s backyard. Then see the little green alien men when you experience Alien Swirling Saucers. After all that, you’ll be hungry, so be sure to stop in at Woody’s Lunch Box for a quick bite with a Toy Story twist!

Becky Burkett

Becky's from the Lone Star State and has been writing since she was 10 and encountered her first Disney Park when she was 11. It was love at first Main Street Electrical Parade. Joy is blank lined journals, 0.7 mm pens, and all things Walt, Woody and Buzz, PIXAR, Imagineering, Sleeping Beauty (make it blue!), Disney Parks history and EPCOT. At Disney World, you'll find her croonin' with the birdies at the Enchanted Tiki Room or hangin' with Woody and the gang at Toy Story Land. If you can dream, you really can do it!
