Some Disney Park fans are disturbed after seeing a beloved Disney attraction removed from the Disney Park map overnight. Fans of the ride are feeling heartbroken to see a gap where it once stood.
The Disney Parks are incredibly popular worldwide, with millions of fans visiting them yearly. One of the many reasons that Disney keeps fans coming back year after year is because Disney does a fantastic job innovating and keeping the Parks new and exciting. This means adding new rides, attractions, parades, restaurants, and nighttime spectaculars every year so that Guests are incentivized to come back and visit more often.
However, the constant evolution of Disney does leave some fans feeling shocked when things are changed or removed so quickly.
Disney Park Map Sees Big Changes Overnight
Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort will often use the Park’s respective apps to make their vacations easier. These apps help you make reservations, use the Disney Genie+ service, and check out wait times on the Park’s map. The maps are also an effective way to see if there are any ride breakdowns or changes.
It was on this app that Guests saw the removal of a major Disneyland Resort landmark. Overnight, the Splash Mountain ride was removed from the Park map after closing down permanently on May 31, 2023. Many fans are heartbroken about this ride’s closing, and seeing it erased from the map so soon feels like satl-in-the-wound.
Fans Mourn the Loss of Disneyland Landmark
It was announced earlier this year that Splash Mountain would be closing for good at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The announcement, which came after years of controversy over the ride’s ties to the controversial film Song of the South, stunned Disney fans around the world. The ride has been a point of contention for years, as the film has been widely criticized for its racist depictions of African Americans and its romanticized portrayal of the antebellum South.
The new ride, which will replace Splash Mountain in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, will be called “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.” It will take Guests on a journey through the Louisiana Bayou. As of now, the Park map has been updated to show Tiana’s Bayou Adventure where Splash Mountain used to be.
Very mixed emotions about seeing this on the APP today. But still looking forward to it.

While this change will definitely take some getting used to, many fans are thrilled about Tiana’s ride and look forward to seeing progress begin.
