Change to Festival of Fantasy Parade Leaves Guests Stunned

If you go to Magic Kingdom and don’t see the Festival of Fantasy Parade…did you even go to Magic Kingdom? This Parade has been delighting guests since 2014! If you’ve never seen it, you’re missing out. Festival of Fantasy is far and away one of Disney’s best parades. Today though, eagle-eyed guests noticed something different.

Mickey Mouse is one dapper fellow. He rocks almost any outfit he chooses to wear,  from sorcerer robes to a polka dot suit and everything in between. It’s his classic tuxedo look, though, that guests love so much. We don’t get to see hom in it very often. After all, with a wardrobe as fantasic as Mickey’s,  it’s hard to commit to one outfit for very long.

Today though, Mickey was bringing up the rear of the parade, like always, on his iconic blood float. However, instead of his band conductor uniform, he was rocking his classic look! In fact, all of the Fab 5 was in their traditional outfits!

Curiously, this change was only in effect for the first parade at 12:00 pm. By the time the 3:00 parade rolled through Main Street USA,  Mickey was back to his band director get-uo while the chorus sang the beloved “who’s the lead of the club that’s made for you and me… M-I-C-K-E-Y…” The rest of the Fab 5 were also back to their parade costumes. It’s unclear what prompted the change during the first performance. It’s possible that weather played a role.

This wasn’t then only change the parade has seen this week. Following the incineration of the Maleficent dragon at Disneyland’s Fantasmic! Nighttime Spectacular, Disney suspended all fire effects until further notice. That meant that the steam punk Maleficent is rolling down the parade route without her signiture flames. While disappointing, because that fire effect truly is a sight to behold, we are glad that Disney is being proactive and putting the safety of cast and guests first.
