Hollywood Studios Quietly Lost Another Place to Eat

Hollywood Studios has been undergoing steady change over the past several years, but lately the pace of updates around Sunset Boulevard has started to feel especially noticeable. Construction walls, scrims, and subtle operational changes are beginning to reshape the area around one of the park’s most recognizable thrill rides.

Now, guests visiting that corner of the park are discovering that another small but convenient food stop has quietly disappeared.

KRNR The Rock Station, the snack stand located near the entrance to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, has closed its service windows. While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed what the long-term plan is for the location, the closure comes at the same time major work continues on the nearby attraction.

For guests walking through Sunset Boulevard, it’s another reminder that this part of Hollywood Studios is in the middle of a transformation.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Is Undergoing a Major Retheme

The biggest change in the area is the ongoing reimagining of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. After decades featuring Aerosmith, the ride officially closed earlier this month so Disney can convert it into a new version starring The Muppets.

Construction actually began before the ride shut down. Disney closed the attraction’s pre-show area back in December 2025 so crews could begin preparing the building for its new storyline. Now that the ride itself is offline, more visible progress is starting to appear around the entrance.

Guests have already noticed updates to the iconic car display outside the attraction. Fresh paint is helping transform it into the famous van belonging to Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Meanwhile, the large guitar outside the building has been covered with scrims as Disney removes the original Aerosmith branding.

All of this signals that the retheme is moving forward quickly, with Disney aiming to reopen the attraction later this summer.

A Small Snack Stand Goes Dark

With so much attention on the coaster itself, the closure of KRNR The Rock Station might be easy to overlook.

Still, the small snack stand served a practical purpose for guests exploring Sunset Boulevard. It provided quick grab-and-go options for people heading to nearby attractions like Tower of Terror or grabbing something fast before a show.

The stand’s windows are now closed, and there’s no indication that it is currently serving guests.

That means one less place to grab a snack in a park that already tends to get busy during peak dining hours.

Could the Snack Stand Return?

Although the location is closed, many fans suspect the change may only be temporary.

When Disney rethemes a major attraction, the surrounding area often gets updated to match the new story. That could mean KRNR The Rock Station eventually reopening with new décor that fits the Electric Mayhem and the upcoming Muppets version of the ride.

For now, Disney hasn’t announced any plans for the location.

But with construction continuing around the coaster, it wouldn’t be surprising if more updates appear in this part of Hollywood Studios before the ride reopens.

In the meantime, guests walking through Sunset Boulevard will likely notice the difference. With both the coaster and the snack stand unavailable, the area feels a little quieter than usual.
