Here at Disney Dining, we love our ice cream! We aren’t picky on flavor: from chocolate to vanilla, and even rootbeer-flavored ice cream and everything in between. We love it all! We have discovered one thing, though, on our quest to discover the best ice cream at Walt Disney World- not all ice cream is created equal. Today, we’re rounding up some of the best ice cream spots in each park at Walt Disney World (and maybe a couple of bonus locations too).
Storybook Treats
This walk-up stand serves up an exciting rotation of sweet Treats that are sure to delight any taste bud! From DOLE Whip soft serve to limited-time treats, you’ll find something unique here. The menu rotates, usually with a specialty cone to celebrate the movie du journey! My favorite was the seven dwarfs series. A different swirl cone was launched every week with incredible flavors. My favorite was the Sneezy: chocolate and rootbeer swirl with a white chocolate belt buckle! You’ll always find something creative on the menu at Storybook Treats!
L’ Artisan des Glaces
My favorite ice cream shop at Walt Disney World is L’ Artisan des Glaces, located in the France Pavilion At EPCOT. The impeccable theming makes me forget I’m at a theme park. I could easily believe I’d just stepped off a busy Parisienne street into a locally owned creamery dating back generations. One of the treats you must try is the Croque Glacé at L’ Artisan des Glaces, located in the France Pavilion. This treat gives new meaning to the term Ice cream sandwich. It has a scoop of ice cream pressed in a warm, homemade brioche bun with your choice of sauce. All of the treats here are handmade, and the flavors rotate with the season, so make sure to take a look at the current offerings when you stop by.
Hollywood Scoops
No stroll down Hollywood Studios’ Sunset BIvd. is complete without a stop at Hollywood Scoops! I don’t know about you, but I think food tastes better when it’s Mickey-shaped! That’s why the Mickey Brownie Sundae is absolutely perfect! Hand-scooped vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, Mickey-shaped sprinkles, and a house-made Mickey-shaped brownie make this one of our favorite Disney treats! The limited-time Little Mermaid shake features vanilla ice cream with Mango, Guava, and Ginger topped with whipped cream and a Pineapple-Guava Seashell. They’ve even got plant-based ice cream options!
Dino-Bites
I hear you, Anandapur Ice Cream Truck lovers, and this was a close call BUT Dino-Bites edges out the competition with one treat in particular: the Dino Dig Ice Cream Sandwich.
It’s vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a white chocolate Dino and bones on top! That much goodness all on one treat ought to be a crime (but thank goodness it’s not). Find this sweet shop near this Dig Site in Dinoland, U.S.A.
Bonus Location- Beaches and Cream Soda Shop
It’s not in a park, but no “best of” ice cream list is complete without Beaches and Cream. It’s located very near EPCOT, so it counts…right? This old-school soda fountain is World famous (infamous?) for the Kitchen Sink Ice Cream sundae. It’s a $36 ice cream sundae that serves four. It has…I’ll just let Disney tell you about it because you simply won’t believe me: “Scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies ‘n Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip topped with Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, SNICKERS® pieces, Fresh-baked Brownie, and smothered in every additional topping we have.”
That’s all well and good and definitely on my bucket list, but the No Way José is my go-to here! Chocolate and vanilla ice cream is topped with hot fudge and peanut butter with a spi Klinger of chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. It’s a choco-peanut butter lover’s paradise!
Bonus Location: Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop
This Disney Springs location is home to some of the most amazing sundaes known to man! The restaurant has two sides: one offering milkshakes and classic treats and one dedicated to only specialty sundaes. That’s the side that truly has our hearts! You’ll find all kinds of exciting sundaes, but nothing beats the traditional banana split! They do a banana split like it should be done: vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream topped with crushed pineapple, sweetened strawberries, and handmade hot fudge served with a banana, whipped cream, diced almonds, and a cherry.
We love all of the ice cream at Walt Disney World, but these truly stand out in our opinion. No matter which location you stop at, you’ll have a delicious summer-heat-busting treat! Did your favorite make it on our list? Head over to Facebook and let us know!
