When it comes to dining at Walt Disney World Resort, everyone has their favorite spots that they would recommend to their friends and family. Some base their picks on the food, others on the characters, and some on the location. Whatever your preference, there is something for everyone at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Some places are more popular than others, and one of the most in-demand places to eat is Chef Mickey’s, which can be found at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Guests love Chef Mickey’s for a number of reasons. For one, it’s a great spot to see some classic characters. It’s also incredibly close to the Magic Kingdom, and it’s a great spot for kids. However, one Guest recently ate at Chef Mickey’s and didn’t have the experience they were hoping for. They took to Reddit to share their thoughts and get others’ opinions about the character dining location.
Chef Mickey is just a Boujee IHOP. We went there and was super disappointed. Then went to Hollywood and vine thinking it would be more of the same, it was significantly better.
Just shocked that chef Mickey was so sub par. Not saying Hollywood and vine was super great but compared to CM it sure was. Tomorrow we do topolino’s, super excited for that one.

Many commentators actually agreed with the Redditor’s opinion and felt that the restaurant was overpriced for what you received, including nylawman21, who said:
The food is terrible, and costs 10x ihop. If you went there for the food, you made a mistake. The only reason to go there is to get your kids in pictures with all 5 classic characters in 90 minutes.
Others shared that they had found other Walt Disney World breakfast locations that were much better than Chef Mickey’s — which is also open for dinner. One of those people was DAKPluto, who said:
Honestly the best Character breakfast for getting food that doesn’t seem like your average generic cafeteria food is the Princess breakfast at Akershus. They have AMAZING food for a character breakfast.
Others also shared that, even though the price of a character meal would make you think you are getting top-of-the-line food, you are really just paying for the experience. A place like Chef Mickey’s also tends to focus on what a younger audience will like, since the location is so popular amongst parents with younger children. Fellow Redditors said that, when character dining at a place like Chef Mickey’s, you are mainly paying for the experience and, if you want better quality food, then you should find another place on property to eat.
