Located at Disney California Adventure Park, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is a thrilling attraction that has Guests screaming for joy every day. Fans can’t get enough of this ride, which is based on the movie franchise Guardians of the Galaxy.Â
Disney describes the ride, saying;
“When Rocket escapes, he commandeers a gantry lift and enlists your help on a harrowing mission to rescue his fellow Guardians. Prepare to unleash intergalactic mayhem from the top of the fortress to the bottom, as one of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtapes blasts a classic tune!
With incredible special effects, appearances by popular characters, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies, thrilling free-fall drop sequences and 6 different storylines to experience, this adventure breaks out all the big thrills!”
However, some Guests are sad by the news that they will not be able to experience this attraction past 2 p.m. starting today, September 1.
What Is Going on a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy?’
Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride were confused to see that Disneyland Resort’s app says that it will be closing after 2 p.m. from September 1 until October 31. The ride is one of Disney California Adventure Park’s most popular, so this closure seems very odd.
Anyone know why mission breakout closes at 2pm the next few weeks?

It turns out that the explanation is very simple, albeit confusing on Disney’s part. During the Halloween season, Disney will transform Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Guests who wish to ride the original version will have to do so before 2 p.m.
Halloween Arrives at the Disney Parks
As part of the annual Halloween Time celebration at Disneyland Resort, the Monster After Dark experience takes guests on a thrilling adventure with their favorite intergalactic heroes. In this version of the ride, Guests are tasked with helping save Groot from a gaggle of monsters that are on the loose.
In addition to Monsters After Dark, Disneyland Resort offers a variety of other Halloween-themed experiences. The Haunted Mansion gets a holiday makeover with the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. At Disney California Adventure, guests can also enjoy the Oogie Boogie Bash, a separately-ticketed Halloween party.
Halloween has already begun at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, so be sure to head to the Parks this month and next if you want to soak in the spooky festivities.
