Great Ideas For An Adults Only Trip to Walt Disney World

Most people think that Walt Disney World is just for kids, but that isn’t the case at all.  Walt Disney World is an excellent option for adults that want a little magic on their vacation. Here’s why we think it is a great idea for adults to head to Walt Disney World without kids.

1. Fantastic Resorts

For an adult only vacation to Walt Disney World, check out some of the deluxe or deluxe villa resorts that are offered on Disney Property.  These resorts bring luxury to a new level and are perfect for adults that want to relax and get away.  If you like the nightlife, consider a stay at the Beach or Yacht Club keeping you close to Epcot and the Boardwalk.  If you are looking for a quiet escape, consider the Polynesian or Grand Floridan.  Although we love the big, over the top Disney characters at Art of Animation, Pop Century and the All-Star resorts, on adults only trip it is nice to check-out the deluxe accommodations.

2. Fine Dining

During adults only stay, you will want to experience some of the fine dining options throughout Walt Disney World.  If you have a group that is into food, drinks and atmosphere, Disney offers a variety of options that are perfect.  Heading to Disney Springs provides a variety of options to choose from such as Boathouse or Morimoto Asia.  At the resorts you can also find a variety of unique dining options such as California Grill, Yatchman’s Steakhouse and more.  A great part of an adults only vacation is the opportunity to slow down and really enjoy the meals.

3. Visit the Lounges

One of the best things to do on an adult only vacation is to visit the lounges throughout the parks and resorts.  There are so many well themed lounges that offer great drinks and food.  In Hollywood Studios, don’t miss out on Oga’s Cantina or Baseline Tap House.  At the Polynesian there are two excellent options in Tambu Lounge and Trader’s Sams.  These are fun, outgoing atmospheres with drinks themed to the lounge.  From something a little fancier, head to the Grand Floridian where you can have a drink at Enchanted Rose.  The lounges at Disney are a great way to see different resorts and experience different, unique drinks.

4. Monorail and Skyliner Crawls

A fun way to experience some of the lounges throughout the resorts is by doing a skyliner or monorail crawl.  Choose a resort to start at and then take the transportation of your choice around to the different resorts.  Grab drinks and appetizers at each of them while enjoying the atmosphere of each resort.  Start off at the Contemporary and work your way around to the Grand Floridian on the monorail.  For the skyliner, you could start at the Riviera and then head to the Yacht and Beach Club.  There are so many outstanding hidden gems in the resorts and these crawls are a great way to see them all.

5. Visit Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a fantastic location to visit for those on an adults only trip.  Not only does it have a variety of stores to look at, but the dining and entertainment is also fantastic.  You can choose from a quick meal at Polite Pig or a sit-down meal at Art Smith’s Homecomin’ or Enzo’s Hideaway.  Disney Springs is perfect for adults as it has a little of something for everyone.

6. Try Out Some Activities

Disney isn’t all rides and shows.  There are also activities that you can participate in throughout the resort property.  Mini-golf, bike riding, and even boat rentals are all options that you can choose to do while in Disney.  There is so much to do and try outside of the theme parks that you really can have an amazing time even without a ticket.

7. Ride all the rides.. Or don’t

The best part of an adults only trip is that you can ride all the rides you want, or not ride any of the rides if you want.  An adult only trip really gives you the option to do whatever you want.  You don’t have to make sure little ones are fed, watered and have been to the bathroom.  Instead, you can take the park at your own pace.  Do what you want, when you want!

These are just a few of reasons why an adult only trip to Walt Disney World is a must do.  We hope you consider taking an adult only trip soon.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
