Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, known for its elegance and luxury, became the scene of an unsettling incident this past weekend as security and police responded to a reported violent threat. The situation caused a temporary Monorail shutdown and sparked widespread discussion among Walt Disney World Resort guests and Disney Parks fans online.

At around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, guests at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa observed heightened security and police activity. Reddit user u/ghost_shark_619 described the scene:
“Lots of police and security activity around 5 tonight just curious as to what the heck was going on.”
Additional reports indicated that a guest’s threatening comment led to the Monorail suspension and subsequent emergency response.

“A guest made an inappropriate comment for an environment where security is a concern,” explained Redditor u/SeriousStrokes69. “That comment had to be taken seriously, so it resulted in the Monorail being shut down for a period of time, and the person who made the comment was arrested and trespassed from the property.”
Guests Flee Amid Safety Concerns

Redditor u/Guilty-Programmer954 shared their account of seeing the guest escorted away by law enforcement:
“We were in line for the Monorail and the man walked past us with handcuffs… Apparently, he had a bag he had thrown or hid, and the police wanted what’s inside.”
Many Disney Park guests had to alter their plans or find alternate transportation as the Monorail was temporarily suspended. Though operations resumed later in the evening, the disruption left many shaken.

Later that night, guests at the Grand Floridian Resort bus stop witnessed another incident. Redditor u/caninelizardbreath detailed the chaotic scene involving multiple groups of people:
“Someone was yelling about recording someone, and then someone elbowed someone in the face…It started inside and ended while they were getting on the bus.”
Walt Disney World Resort prioritizes the safety of everyone on property. Situations like these highlight the importance of vigilance in maintaining a safe environment. If you see something suspicious, always report it to the nearest Disney cast member or law enforcement.

We were in the magic kingdom at mickey’s not so scary Halloween party. My husband and son went to get something to eat and drink. I was sat in my wheelchair in a disabled zone when I was abusive by another guest who repeated kicked me in the back he they went to start on my son but as soon as he seen my husband came back he stop but not one member of staff or other guests help i end up have to go to hospital by ambulance . And the rest of are holiday was ruined my son was only 7 at the time it took as another 2 years before I could go back to Orlando as I was terrified it would happen again the first day going into the magic kingdom i was crying because I was so scary. But the staff at the animal kingdom lodge were excellent after the attack they made sure that we had everything we needed as I was unable to do anything because of the pain I was in.
