An imminent threat has set its target on the most Magical place on Earth.
Right now, Walt Disney World Resort, alongside the rest of the state of Florida, is bracing for the incoming impact of Hurricane Idalia. This storm, which strengthened into a hurricane today, aims to cause some significant weather over Florida. As of now, both Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort plan to stay open to Guests who are brave through the significant weather.
Florida Tourists Flee the State Ahead of Hurricane
The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning for Florida’s Gulf Coast, and it is expected that Hurricane Idalia will make landfall in this region within the next 48 hours. While some Guests are going to risk the weather and still attend their dream theme park vacation, many others plan to get themselves safely out of the State as soon as possible.
Because of this mass tourist exodus, the Walt Disney World Resort has been left the emptiest it’s been in a while. Guests who braved the visit today were shocked to see that the prices for the Park’s Genie Plus service have reached an incredibly low number, a new record since implementing the per-parking pricing model back in June.
Guests Save Money, Thanks to Idalia
Right now, Genie+ costs $20 for Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and is only $15 for EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The multiple-park option is currently priced at $20 as well.

Genie+ prices have always been a great indicator of the Park’s Guest attendance, and this tells us things are looking fairly empty over at Walt Disney World Resort today. As Hurricane Idalia creeps closer, the entire Disney community is sending the best toward this community in the hope that the storm blows over quickly and no one is seriously injured.
