From Monorails to DOLE Whip: Guests Confess Their Disney World ‘Sins’
Visiting Walt Disney World Resort is unlike any other vacation. The resort is filled with unforgettable attractions, beloved characters, and magical experiences that families and fans look forward to for months or even years in advance. Every corner of the parks is designed to keep the magic alive, from the moment you walk through the gates until you leave at the end of the night.
With so much to do, guests often find themselves swept up in the excitement, determined to make the most of every moment.

Of course, part of what makes Walt Disney World so special is the structure that allows millions of people to enjoy the resort safely each year. Guests are asked to follow certain rules, dress appropriately, treat Cast Members and other visitors with respect, and make sure they’re keeping the parks family-friendly. For most, these expectations are second nature.
But every now and then, even the most devoted Disney fans find themselves caught in moments that might not exactly fit the definition of Disney perfection.

When it comes to those “oops” moments, Cast Members are usually the first to acknowledge that many slip-ups happen without malice. Most guests aren’t trying to cause trouble, and that’s why Cast Members often let minor things slide. Still, some of those slip-ups can turn into funny stories that guests remember long after their trips end.
Recently, one of those lighthearted conversations began online when a Reddit user named revenue_management asked others to confess their Disney World “sins” — the rules they knowingly or accidentally broke during their visits.
The responses came pouring in, ranging from relatable blunders to completely unexpected moments. Some even admitted to breaking rules that could have gotten them temporarily removed from the park.

As one user named Rtkane explained, they had their fair share of stories, but one stood out involving their spouse.
Bless me Mickey, for I have sinned…
I took too much BBQ sauce at FlameTree and had to throw it away
Once I touched the roof of the launch tunnel in Space Mountain
I reached over the wall in Animal Kingdom to take pics of the construction going on where Dinoland was.
I once did not stand clear of the closing doors on the monorail, so it had to open back up and shut again
And a sin for my wife:
She brought pepper spray into the park (got it through TSA and into Epcot). It was a complete mistake and she was mortified when she went back to the room and saw it still in her purse.

While the intention wasn’t there, it’s the kind of mistake that could have resulted in serious consequences.
Other so-called “sins” were far less serious but just as entertaining. Another guest admitted, “I once did not stand clear of the closing doors on the monorail, so it had to open back up and shut again.”
For so many Disney fans, the monorail is an iconic experience, and hearing “Por favor, manténgase alejado de las puertas” is practically a rite of passage. Failing to heed that warning may be one of the most Disney-specific slip-ups imaginable.
Not every confession had to do with rules in the traditional sense. One commenter shocked fellow fans with a simple revelation: they had never tried the legendary DOLE Whip. The creamy pineapple treat is one of Walt Disney World’s most iconic snacks, and for many visitors, it’s considered a must-try. Missing out on the sweet indulgence feels like a missed opportunity to fully experience the parks’ most beloved flavors.
Language also became a surprising confession. Walt Disney World’s official policies ask guests not to use profanity in the parks, but as one guest acknowledged, sometimes that’s easier said than done. They shared that they don’t always keep things “child-friendly” while visiting.
Cast Members are generally lenient when it comes to language slips, but if someone gets too offensive or too loud with their words, the situation can change quickly.
Sidewalk etiquette emerged as another hot topic, resonating with many Disney fans who understand the frustration of slow-moving crowds. One person confessed:
“My wife walks fast and Disney causes a great deal of rage in her because of this. Sheʼs okay with people being slow, a little annoyed by people being slow and walking four abreast, and about ready to throw someone into the lagoon for walking slow and meandering.”
For those who have navigated Disney’s busiest walkways, this sentiment is all too familiar.
Interestingly, some “sins” weren’t about misbehavior but rather about how guests structured their trips. One user wrote:
“My WDW sin is that I preach to others about making time to relax at the resort and scheduling pool breaks, but as my last trip taught me, Iʼm too tempted by LLs and dinner plans and usually rush my kid at the pool. She would stay there all day if we could. To be fair, this last trip I had a lot of ‘one off’ reservations that I wonʼt need to do again like Saviʼs and BBB. But still, too much rushing. Guess that just means we need another trip, right?”
Other guests kept their confessions short but memorable. Some admitted to drinking too much while visiting EPCOT or trying to order alcohol at Magic Kingdom before the park began serving it. Others confessed to skipping parades and fireworks altogether, choosing rides or food instead. A few even went so far as to admit they enjoyed Universal more than Disney, a revelation that might be considered one of the boldest “sins” of all among die-hard fans.
It’s clear that most of these confessions are lighthearted and fun, but they also serve as reminders of why Disney has so many rules in place. While grabbing extra BBQ sauce or skipping fireworks might be harmless, other actions — like bringing in prohibited items — can put guests and Cast Members at risk. Rules at Walt Disney World exist to protect both people and the magic itself, and breaking them can lead to removal or even a ban from the parks.
