Forget the Parks, This Disney Springs Surprise Is the Best Free Thing Happening This Summer

Walt Disney World guests tend to treat Disney Springs as a transitional space. A spot to grab dinner before heading back to the resort, a place to wander when the parks close early, somewhere to pick up a souvenir on the way out of town. That reputation is starting to shift this summer, and the latest reason why is a free, high-energy dance experience that has nothing to do with rides, characters, or park tickets.

The Disney Springs Kids Club launched an interactive Polynesian show this season as part of the district’s Cool Kids Summer programming, and it has quickly become one of the most genuinely joyful experiences on Walt Disney World property.

What Happens at the Show

The performance takes place at The Marketplace Splash Pad in The Landing area of Disney Springs and invites guests to dance, play, and immerse themselves in the aloha spirit through music and movement inspired by the islands of the South Pacific. Traditional dances drawing influence from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, and Fiji anchor the performance, with vibrant live music carrying the energy throughout.

DJ Katie KD Queen Beck leads the daytime celebration, mixing hula hooping, limbo, interactive games, and continuous dancing into a format designed to keep both kids and adults engaged from start to finish. The show runs every Saturday and Sunday from May 26 through September 8, with performances at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. As an outdoor experience, the entertainment and showtimes remain subject to change in the event of inclement weather, which guests planning around Florida’s summer storm patterns should keep in mind.

A Summer Packed With New Reasons to Visit

The Polynesian show is one piece of a noticeably expanded summer calendar at Disney Springs. Level99, a massive new gaming venue built for adults and teens, opens June 29 at Disney Springs West Side with more than 60 life-sized mini games, 63 Challenge Rooms, and more than 40 original art installations, making it the company’s largest venue to date. Tickets go on sale June 22.

On the food side, Six Ravens is preparing to debut at The Landing from the team behind Gideon’s Bakehouse, specializing in grab-and-go hand pies called Coffyns inspired by medieval European pastry traditions, served alongside smashed potatoes and house-made dips. Vans and a refreshed Oakley store both opened new retail locations this month, and the Kakigori Kool cart outside Morimoto Asia is serving Japanese shaved ice with fruity syrups and toppings including strawberry popping boba, which is exactly the kind of treat a Florida summer demands.

Goofy’s Candy Company rolled out a create-your-own popcorn experience with flavors including caramel, buttered, and an exclusive orange citrus option. Amorette’s Patisserie introduced new beach-themed Mickey and Minnie Cookie Art kits featuring edible watercolor paints. On select evenings, the AdventHealth Waterside Stage hosts DescenDANCE Party x Camp Rock Jam, a dance party built around music from the upcoming Disney+ films Descendants: Wicked Wonderland and Camp Rock 3. Guests can also catch Drawn to Life, presented by Cirque du Soleil and Disney, for a discounted child ticket at $25 through September 6, with performances running through September 20.

Why This Matters for a Walt Disney World Trip

What makes this summer different is how much of the new programming at Disney Springs requires zero theme park admission. A family could spend a full morning watching the Polynesian show, grab Kakigori shaved ice in the early afternoon heat, let the kids paint cookies at Amorette’s Patisserie, and close out the evening at a Waterside Stage dance party without ever using a single park ticket.

For families specifically looking for free, interactive entertainment that does not require lining up early or booking months in advance, the Disney Springs Kids Club Polynesian show fills a gap that has become increasingly rare at major theme park destinations. Every Saturday and Sunday morning through September 8, The Marketplace Splash Pad turns into one of the most genuinely fun corners of the entire Walt Disney World Resort, and it does not cost a thing to be part of it.
