Five Reasons I Think About Disney Every Day

By Sarah Chapman

Some may say I’m a fan, some addicted, some obsessed, and a few may go as far as to say I’m crazy. I’m okay with that—I can wear all of those hats when it comes to my affinity for all thing Disney. And let’s face it, there are a lot of other vices a person could have that are much more harmful than a love of Disney. So here are five reasons why I think about Disney every day.

  1. It’s my job

I am lucky enough to be a “dream vacation maker” and my main focus is Disney—Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Adventures by Disney and Aulani. Every day I get to work with friends and clients to make their Disney vacation dreams come true—and that’s pretty awesome. As part of that I try to keep up on the latest news, so that means I’m also checking sites like DisneyDining each day, browsing my Facebook feed for updates, and tuning in to some of my favorite Disney podcasts.

  1. I’m always relating “real” life to Disney

I am sure that my children are tired of me constantly quoting a Disney movie or relating some aspect of park touring to our everyday lives. In line for our flu shots, I comment—can’t I get a FastPass for this? My middle schooler has a bad day? “Just Keep Swimming” is what I tell him (or sometimes “Hakuna Matata”). I lament that I can’t just tap my Magic Band to purchase my groceries instead of digging through my purse for my wallet. And, I always rope drop anywhere we go—first appointment at the doctor’s office, there at opening for the zoo, etc.

  1. Half of my friends are “Disney” friends

In this digital age it is really remarkable what “a small world it is after all.” I have dear friends that I have met online through Disney message boards and groups, and every day I “talk” with them online or through text messages. Our love of Disney is the tie that binds, and it is funny how that can extend to other elements of your life to make that person 3 states over completely relate to you.

  1. I have a lot of Disney Décor

Just about every room in my home has some touch of Disney to it—whether it is a picture frame from Disney Cruise Line or a figurine of Mickey Mouse. My office is where most of my Disney décor finds a home—prints of my favorite resorts, signs with my favorite Disney quotes, even a few collectibles. My refrigerator is absolutely covered with Disney magnets from each of our vacations. And Disney Décor is not limited to my home, but finds its way to my car too. I have a custom license plate with a Disney related word, a couple of Disney magnets, and of course Disney “family” decals.

  1. It Just Makes Me Happy!

The primary reason I think about Disney every day is that it just makes me happy. And all of the reasons above relate back to this—my job makes me happy, thinking of Disney to distract me from mundane daily tasks makes me happy, my Disney friends make me happy, and being surrounded by Disney decorations makes me happy. Whether it is reliving a memory from a magical vacation or enjoying a great Disney movie with my family—the bottom line is that it makes me happy. And that is the best reason to think about Disney every day.

How does Disney come into your everyday life?

About Sarah Chapman

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one has been properly indoctrinated with all things Disney. Walt Disney World is definitely our “Laughing Place.” Look for me on Facebook at Facebook.com/SarahLBAC for updates, discount announcements, tips, tricks and planning advice for your next vacation.
