First Look at New ‘Barney’ Series Terrifies Fans
When we think about things that made our childhood special and memories that make us smile, we often remember classic television shows. For millennials, we think about shows like Rugrats, Fraggle Rock, Duck Tales, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, and more. But there are some shows that cross those generational divides — shows like Arthur, Mister Rogers Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and Barney.
And now, one of those long-loved is making its comeback after leaving the airways 14 years ago.

On October 14, everyone’s favorite iconic purple dinosaur, Barney, will return in the new Mattel Television Studios and Max animated series, Barney’s World.
Starring the iconic Mattel character in his first TV show in 14 years, “Barney’s World” is set in a playground, where Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid best friends David, Mel, and Vivie. Through action-packed, music-filled adventures together, Barney helps the kids and audiences explore big preschool emotions, showing them how to love themselves, others, and their communities.
Much like shows like Bluey, Barney’s World season one will consist of 52 episodes, but they will be short, averaging about 11 minutes each. The episodes will air on Cartoon Network four days after they premiere on Max.
While Barney has been loved by children around the world for decades, the trailer was not very well received. Of course, it is expected for Barney to sound different as he is voiced by different actors, but this Barney really threw people off.

Others did not like the new, animated version of Barney. They did not think that he looked like the purple dragon we have come to know and love.

Many commenters were disappointed in the fact that the new series will be animated. A lot of us remember the original Barney as a large anthropomorphic T-Rex puppet who interacted with children on a set. In fact, Disney stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato got their start as child actors when they appeared on the show.

Barney’s World will star Jonathan Langdon as the voice of Barney, Bryn McAuley as Baby Bop, Jonathan Tan as Billy, Diana Tsoy as Mel, Jayd Deroché as David, and Ella Paciocco as Vivie.
