If you know… you know.
If you ask any Disney fan what they think is the scariest ride at one of the theme parks, you might get a few answers. Tower of Terror, Dinosoar, or Haunted Mansion are all common opinions but still are not the scariest. Of all the rides in any Park, one reigns supreme as the moist terrifying: ‘Mickey’s Death Wheel.’
The Scariest Ride at Disney
You might be asking yourself, what is ‘Mickey’s Death Wheel?’ That would be the fan-adorned nickname for Pixar-Pal-A-Round, located in Disney California Adventure. Pixar-Pal-A-Round is the attraction formerly known as the Sun Wheel and Mickey’s Fun Wheel. This Ferris wheel looks harmless from the outside; it even has Mickey’s face on the side of it. Every day, innocent Guests are lured to the Pixar-Pal-A-Round at Pixar Pier, expecting a calming and scenic experience. What they are met with is the experience of being thrashed around in a metal cage 150 feet in the air.
Victims of Mickey’s Death Wheel have begun commiserating together online for support. TikTok has become a place for people to air out their anger for the ride, and post their hilarious ride videos.
Victims of Mickey’s Death Wheel Unite
In a viral TikTok video posted by user @kellykoby, she explains, “Disney Tip: this is the scariest ride at Disneyland and California Adventure.” In the video, her group is seen thrashing around the ride’s gondolas, falling over each other, and screaming.
The video clearly resonated with the public. User @jberd27 comments, “That ride is the scariest thing at Disney…period. Why have lap bars on Little Mermaid, but have none 50 feet in the air??”
Countless commenters share stories about being sick or crying after experiencing this ride. Many users even comment that Disney should have riders sign a waver.
Another user shares their hilarious ride video:
While the ride is undeniably intense, it is also very fun for many people. The main issue people have with the ride is that it is marketed as very different from what it is in reality. Disney’s ride page for the attraction describes it in a very different way. It says, “Lift off and soar 150 feet into the air for incredible panoramic vistas of Disney California Adventure Park—and beyond!”
Understandably, many do not resonate with this description. If you or a loved one plans to visit Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort in the future, please ride the Pixar-Pal-A-Round with caution. And if you do decide to ride it… be sure to take a video so fellow victims can enjoy a laugh!
