Fans Are Divided Over What’s Now Being Served at This Classic Disney Spot

Big things are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and while the spotlight is shining on the upcoming transformation of the Grand Avenue area into Monsters Inc. Land, there’s action happening just across the street.

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, a long-standing favorite for its retro drive-in aesthetic and sci-fi film clips, is introducing several new food offerings as part of a broader shift in the park’s direction.

The MuppetVision 3-D attraction is officially closing on June 7, 2025, paving the way for a new themed land based on Pixar’s Monsters Inc. franchise. While Disney has not revealed all the details about what the new land will include, concept rumors point to attractions based on the laugh floor, character meet-and-greets with Sulley and Mike, and family-friendly dark ride experiences.

Just across the walkway, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is not expected to receive any physical refurbishments as part of the transformation. However, it’s evolving in its own way—through its food.

Starting in April 2025, four new options have been added to the lineup:

  • New Feature Film Burger: A pretzel bun burger topped with sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, and house-made sauerkraut.
  • Cyborg-er: A bold take featuring griddled pastrami, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, heirloom tomato, and a Carolina mustard sauce.
  • Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich: Fried chicken thigh with ham, melted Swiss, arugula, and a maple dijon sauce served on a brioche bun.
  • Cerulean Moon: A new dessert offering with a chocolate mousse dome, strawberry filling, graham cracker tart, hibiscus sponge, and green space dust.

While the restaurant maintains its nostalgic setting with simulated nighttime skies and old-school sci-fi clips playing on the big screen, these bold new menu additions offer something unique for returning guests. The culinary team is aiming to introduce more creativity while keeping the classic Americana vibe alive.

Hollywood Studios is in the midst of a quiet but significant transformation. With Pixar Place revitalized, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge thriving, and now a Monsters Inc. area in the works, the park is redefining its identity — for better or for worse. The addition of these new food items at Sci-Fi Dine-In—while seemingly small—signals how Disney is weaving change even into established guest experiences.

Guests can still enjoy a nostalgic trip back to the 1950s while sampling a few items that reflect the park’s forward-thinking spirit. And as more details about Monsters Inc. Land emerge, the Sci-Fi Dine-In may end up serving as the perfect retro counterbalance to the high-energy new neighbor across the street.
