Fans are accusing Disney of “ruining” another beloved franchise.

Indiana Jones, one of the most iconic film franchises of all time, is facing backlash from fans over the upcoming release of the upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Fans are boycotting the movie for being too “woke,” a term that has been associated with Disney quite a lot in recent years.

The Walt Disney Company has been committed to providing entertainment that represents a diverse variety of people. While many people commend Disney for being more socially and politically aware, some people feel that the content has suffered. When it comes to the new Indiana Jones film, directed by James Mangold, people are convinced the film will be bad before it has even premiered.

Has Indiana Jones Gone Woke? Fans Think YES

This is certainly not the first film to be criticized by fans due to its “social justice” content. Last year, some fans were massively disappointed by films like Lightyear and Strange World, which both aimed to be more socially aware. Some people were also furious with Disney’s diverse casting choices in films such as the live-action The Little Mermaid and Peter & Wendy. There is a large number of people that think Disney has become far too politically left-leaning, and they demand an end.

Now, fans fear that Indiana Jones may be the next to suffer. After the film’s trailer was released, some viewers took to Twitter to rip apart now particularly “cringey” moment. In the scene, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will play Helena Shaw, speaks to Mads Mikkelsen’s character Jurgen Voller and Harrison Ford’s character, Indiana Jones. They are speaking about a stolen item.

Indiana Jones: You stole it!

Jurgen Voller: Then you stole it.

Helena: And then I stole it. It’s called capitalism.

Fans are ripping apart this dialogue, saying that it is “cheesy.” One fan even described the film as being “catastrophically bad.”

Regardless of those who are going to boycott the movie, it still looks like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be a big success when it hits theatres on June 30, 2023. Only time will reveal if Disney has ruined this classic franchise.
