Between Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Central Florida is home to two of the biggest theme park tycoons in the world.

Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort have been competing with each other for years, and the war is always ongoing.

After all, each theme park, whether located in Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort, offers something totally unique.

Although the war for fan-favorite is always ongoing, Universal may have won the battle this time.

Walt Disney World hosts Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT. Meanwhile, Universal hosts Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure.

Disney World is home to IP-themed lands such as Pandora – The World of Avatar, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Universal Orlando is home to not one but two Wizarding World of Harry Potter-themed lands, Jurassic Park, and Marvel Super Hero Island.

Disney World and Universal Orlando offer Guests unique, immersive, and highly-themed thrill rides. But at the end of the day, the competition isn’t won by rides themselves but by a myriad of other factors, as pointed out in this social media thread:

Although the original poster gives Universal Orlando Resort a scathing review, the comments come to the theme park’s rescue, describing why they prefer Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure to a Disney Park.

One fan points out that the Virtual Queue system at Walt Disney World can be disruptive and confusing: “It’s nice at Universal not having to plan your entire day around timed ride entries. We always stay at a Universal hotel so we get to use the FastPass lines which is also a huge bonus.”

They also point out that Universal gives Guests FastPass privileges while staying at a Universal Resort hotel without extra costs.

Other fans pointed out that Universal is overall more cost-friendly, giving Guests more bang for their buck. Guests don’t need to wake up super early to reserve Lightning Lanes, nor do they need to schedule Park Reservations, making a trip to Universal much easier.
