In early June, Walt Disney World Resort drained the reflection pool between the Imagination! Pavilion and the Land Pavilion near CommuniCore Plaza. This week, Disney cast members removed all the coins theme park guests had tossed into the water and moved the rocks in the basin into piles. Now, crews are moving into a new stage of the refurbishment.

According to WDWNT, Walt Disney World Resort construction crews have repainted about half of the bottom of the reflection pool near the Imagination! Pavilion and the Land Pavilion at EPCOT. The faded, algae-stained ground is now a dark beige color.

It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort plans to paint a second coat or whether crews will begin replacing the rocks and refilling the reflection pool after this coat is complete.

Walt Disney World Resort has not said whether it will drain other reflection pools and waterways around EPCOT to remove algae growth, clean rocks, collect coins, and repaint the basins. Disney rarely comments publicly on simple refurbishments like this that don’t affect guest-focused experiences, such as attractions, restaurants, or merchandise locations.

Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort collect coins from wishing wells, reflection pools, ponds, attractions, and other waterways around the Disney parks and donate them to children’s charities. In Central Florida, those donations typically benefit Make-A-Wish and Give Kids The World Village. Disney has yet to confirm how much change it collected from the reflection pool at EPCOT.
